Opinions on this dress

Ask yourself if you're going to look laughably dated when you look at the pictures in 25 years. The other dress is more timeless.

I think this is good advice. The dress is sort of trend right now but will likely not age well.

+1

I'm an old lady. My college graduation pictures (without cap and gown) were a very very short peach dress (mini skirt--barely covered rear.. Right now, it probably looks okay in pics--a few years ago when I saw the pic, it looked ridiculous.

Recommendation: go more classic for pictures. Going somewhere special? Dress is fine. Price a little high for something so trendy. Skirt length means it won't be around in a couple of years.

This one wouldn't be that short on someone 5'6" (think that's what OP said), and a photo doesn't have to show the length. People don't like the sound of poly crepe, but it can be good quality and it will make it through an evening without creasing. The same dress in a similar weight silk could be $1500. I think it's fine if photos represent the time they were taken.

For who?

That's got to be spam

I think this poster was trying to compare this dress to the original pink bow dress, which is obviously way off base.

The version in dark velvet is really pretty. The pink just seems too little girly- like a costume from The Nutcracker. I expect to see bouncing sausage curls and bows.

Some fun holiday dress options that might not be as controversial -- similar vibe, but either more toned down, more grown up, or more photo ready:

The women on here dont have a glamorous bone in their bodies, most of them carry around 10 year old leather handbags from Target and consider that fashion forward. Go ahead and get it. You'll look fabulous.

You know that "frau" just means woman, right? It's not an insult. Unless you think being a woman is a bad thing.

Not the PP, but just because you can literally define something, does not mean you aren't being insulted. I'd assume the PP is using at short for house frau (mismatch intended)--the kind of gal who's style quotient would go up if issued an MCPS crossing guard uni. You know the type, quit playing dumb.

It's hausfrau, PP. You don't need to "mismatch" anything. It means housewife.

If you’re perfect, know how to style it (not like picture), and 22-25 years old, sure. But buying it is silly because you can only wear this dress once.

Just no. Those dresses all look designed for someone trying to hide weight for a not-so-formal event. They are a 180 from what OP posted.

Anonymous wrote:My issue is that the fabric and construction look cheap. Well, I also don't care for that particular bow pattern, but I could see a similar adornment looking good...so I'm willing to allow that is just a matter of preference. Also the shade of pink is a little too bubbly gummy for my taste, but online photos and skin tone make it hard to know for sure.

But the puckering seams just don't give me confidence that this will fall well.

THIS THIS ALL OF THIS

Thank you, PP, for articulating this.

I had an initially negative reaction, but I like quirky looks, I love retro/vintage, I wear lots of fashion-forward or OTT clothes. And there's a real Twiggy sort of vibe to this on first blush. So I was being open... But I couldn't shake the feeling it was simply Wrong for reasons not to do with the color or style per se.

It's mostly the fabric IMO (plus perhaps the exact shade of pink).

They didn't even iron or steam it? I mean, watch the model walking in the video! Though I don't think that's the only reason it looks cheap.

As a design, as a schematic, as a drawing, I'd be completely fine with this, though I wouldn't personally wear it (I'm built like Christina Hendricks).

But this fabric is... insulting.

This is disgusting. LOL. But it’s pretty much how cool moms think.

Disgusting because you don’t have the body to pull it off!
