The Saloni dress is so overdone. I’ve now seen it on 10-15 influencers and their minions.

Ask yourself if you're going to look laughably dated when you look at the pictures in 25 years. The other dress is more timeless.

I think this is good advice. The dress is sort of trend right now but will likely not age well.

Who needs it to age well or be timeless? It's so much more fun to see pictures of parents and grandparents wearing the outfits of their day - than some safe boring choice designed to be as unmemorable as possible. That's what I think anyway! This picture doesn't have to not age like Dorian Gray, does it?

This is disgusting. LOL. But it’s pretty much how cool moms think.

Disgusting because you don’t have the body to pull it off!

Nobody does, sweetie.

Ick.

Don’t yuk someone else’s yum.

Did you read the thread you’re on? 90% of pps “yukked OP’s yum.” For the record I hope OP went with the hot pink dress she originally posted. It looked amazing.

I agree! When I look at old family photos, and see people wearing things that are SO 70s or 60s or whatever, I think those people look like fun! A photo is a time capsule, let it represent the time.

Agreed. My DH was so stressed about our wedding attire for this reason -- he kept saying he didn't want our wedding photos to look silly to our kids 40 years later. I was like "90% of the point of wedding photos is for your kids to look at them later and think wow, you guys look silly! And for us to look at them and remember instantly who young and dumb we were."

I love the idea of looking back at 2021 holiday photos and thinking "Ah, remember how gleeful we were to put on a dress and hug our relatives and just celebrate a normal holiday? I really did it up that year!" Not "wow, classic dress -- this photo could have been taken anytime in the last half century."

Comical but sort of interesting if you don’t mind looking like a figure skater

I find the velvet incarnations of the bow dress charming. I hate the pink one but I’m just not a pink person. I think it would look saccharine on a blond though

That gap would be the least of my worries

For the picture, I think it would depend a lot on what everyone else in the photo was wearing. If the husband was wearing a suit, and the kids were wearing sparkly fun stuff, and it was just a fun sparkley vibe, it would work for the photo. But if everyone else looks sort of casual or conservative, I think it would be too "look at me!" in a photo where you probably want the kids to be the star.

I LOVE it in this deep magenta velvet - https://www.tnuck.com/magenta-camille-bows-dress-0.html

It is outside of my budget, but if it is yours, I would totally get this one!

See, I liked the original dress in bright pink for a holiday dress because it screamed “fun!” while not being too holiday to me. But this version looks really overtly Christmas-y to me, like a human shaped Christmas gift complete with bows.
