Sweet, can we stop subsidizing everyone else first? |
Where do you live? |
Lol this is amazing and the kind of commonsense that the majority of people in the country nod their heads to, regardless if they’re democrats or republicans. I’m still cracking up at Bernie trying to make “2 senators are stopping the will of 48” happen. Can’t make it up 😂 |
In other words: as as long you just give birth, we do not care about those kids. Dumbo, it's not free pre-school, free childcare for nothing. Helping struggling parents/single women helps in growing better citizens...but what should we expect from cruel right-wing nuts! BTW, I am way past child-rearing age and did not need help doing it, which does not mean that I do not see the value in helping others. |
There is no guarantee these kids will be 'better citizens'. Some kids in the wealthiest neighborhoods and communities in the U.S. are the most prolific school shooters. Your kid could be a Brian Laundrie or a Elliot Rodger. Regardless I'm not paying for extraneous efforts for no reason. Save and scrimp and stop expecting to be boosted if you have a $400K income. - moderate Dem |
Ahahaha damned straight!! Right on Manchin. Pick one progressives or lose them all. |
Manchin knows he has a losing hand, especially now that McConnell is capitulating on the debt limit, and is trying to save face. |
Are you delusional? A - McConnell called Manchin and Sinema before he even announced that deal. They approved it B - The debt ceiling and government shutdown have both been punted to December. Guess what else ends in December? The child tax credit. The progressives are in a lose-lose situation. If they push it now for more than Manchin’s offer - the entire deal blows up. If they wait till Christmas - it’ll all blow up and expire anyway. Plus small tip - the Senate gets reaaaalll cranky around Christmas. They do not want to be here in session for any reason. Let alone reconciliation. |
Manchin had been holding a hard line against all three. Now he says he’ll give them one, which means he’s actually willing to give in on more than that. Manchin lost this round and he knows it. |
He lost but the progressives who started at $6 trillion are now down to $1.5 trillion and only one of their entitlement programs won? Please. Manchin has them by the balls. |
Sense from a House member? I’m shocked.
https://www.pressherald.com/2021/10/07/jared-golden-build-back-better-bill-needs-more-work-to-get-my-vote/ The draft proposal also fails to target policies to those most in need. For instance, while the CTC is a worthy program, the current proposal would continue to provide this tax benefit to some households that make as much as $520,000 per year. Another example is a new tax credit for electric vehicles purchases, which would provide tax breaks to families making all the way up to $800,000 a year. Both of these programs are among those that should be more responsibly targeted to working and middle class families. |
