Now all the trade associations are throwing a fit. I can’t believe there were so many idiotic deniers that let this get so awful. I’ve been screaming about it for 3 years. I’m so horribly disappointed in this city, which I used to love so much that I said if I ever got a tattoo it would be the DC flag. I hope we finally do something and stop killing people with these ridiculous pro-criminal/anti-victim policies.

A year ago on this board people wouldn’t even acknowledge to crime crisis.
Mendo perjured himself denying it. The council has shown They. Do. Not. Care. This is why the recalls are so necessary. It’s the only way we will get any action on this. |
All predicted by the conservatives (not MAGA Trumpers) during the "defund the police" movement. duh |
| Not sure why DC Justice Lab and DSA have such a stronghold on the Council. |
The Council is made up of people who are not very bright and are very lazy. Perfect combo for ideological capture. The whole city suffers as a result. |
|
| I can't imagine how demoralizing it must be to be a police office in the midst of this s***show. You catch criminals, and they are back out on the street the next day committing more crimes. Meanwhile, the same officials who are all too happy to release criminals back onto the street would crucify you and second-guess you and put you in jail if they felt like you didn't treat these criminals with kiddie gloves. What a city. |
I’ve never been called a conservative before the past two years. Not in the least. But this has been insane! |
| I think NoVA might be responsive to such a letter. DC and MoCo are ALL IN on the Kool-Aid. The Secure DC bill continues to be weakened. What is voted on next week may have little resemblance to what was introduced in January. The slow roll of the process was to allow DC Justice Lab and others to advocate for changes to it. The Council is not going to change course. |
|
CA is taking some significant steps to change, making involuntary commitment easier, being about to start drug testing before benefits.
https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/world/liberal-san-francisco-on-brink-of-drug-testing-welfare-recipients-the-pendulum-is-swinging/ I just don't see DC as even slowing down current policies, never mind changing course...It's sad to watch gains slip away... |
DSA also has its people on the ANCs. A Ward 3 DSA commissioner recently voted against a resolution urging the council to pass the Secure DC crime bill. |
|
Well everything mentioned in this letter was happening (35 percent homicide increase, 950 carjackings, etc) people on this board lied and said it wasn't happening or you're a racist for noticing.
The DC Council has delayed the crime bill so they can neuter it demonstrating they still don't get the problem. Or they just don't care. |
| Unfortunately, they are not going to read past the phrase “City Council.” That’s not how they view themselves. |
| Yawn, whatever, a whole lot of nothing as the recall petitions progress. |
