Don't like the school assigned, move or go private. Your racism is showing. |
There is nothing equitable about our schools and saying only wealth and prestige matters speaks volumes. All our kids deserve the same strong programming in high school. What are you worried about? Other kids surpassing yours? |
Sure we need all schools to be strong but taking down the strong one is not the solution. Instead of making all schools strong, they’re on the way to make all schools weak. |
Yeah well if I bought into my home when she did and didn't have to work or worry about money I'd volunteer all my time and be an equity champion too. |
Which school are your kids going to again? Crown wah wah. I'm fine with busting down prestigious schools, so long as the maintain their mediocrity all over everywhere. In fact, I'd prefer they be not so hoity toity in my neighborhood. |
| at least everyone now seems to be acknowledging that if H passes, the Wootton name will disappear permanently. There will also be one less top school. I do feel sorry for those who bought in neighborhoods in walking distance to Wootton. For those who live there, the next concern will be what happens to the building and the property. perhaps a holding school, but will it be deemed adequately safe for that? Certainly won't last long, and then what? |
Move the staff from CESC there? It is about 20 years newer than CESC. CESC was previously a school too. So can be converted. |

It’s interesting the commenters who insist that option H is better for the community as a whole. Well, if Wootton students make up the overwhelming majority of the school and it’s not in their best interest-whose best interest is it in? I mean as you have stated over and over again-it’s only an extremely small portion of Crown that would be added-so it’s logistically not really solving anything. So if it’s not in the best interest of the population who is moving there i’m not really sure how that argument stands.
Also in case any one cares-the Current and very near future Wootton students don’t want to move. I mean it’s about the kids right? |

Why do people think Option H makes sense when Gaithersburg thinks Option H means Wootton “steals their school”.
Gaithersburg made a whole music video about it: https://www.facebook.com/share/v/1aJravei21/?mibextid=wwXIfr This music video was played yesterday to the BoE. The funniest thing is Gaithersburg believes Wootton is “stealing” Crown and Wootton families don’t even want it! |
Name a current member of the county council or BOE that has ever advocated for Wootton to change names? Identify any statement or data point that indicates that the name of the school is a factor in the current decision? I'm not wrong. Any evidence that the name is "widely recognized outside the DC area"? |
Why? |

It even has lyrics spelled out. The world does not revolve around Wootten. |
No one is talking about taking down your so called strong school. They are offering to move it to a new location - nothing else changes. They only offered because parents like you had a tantrum over the condiditon despite it getting regular updates. |
That's brilliant, actually, they are right, Wootton would be stealing the school - entitled parents who don't want Gatihersburg kids as "their" school as they think they are better. |
+1 Are Wootton parents thinking it's the building that makes the school "strong"? It's the totality: student body + admin, and all of them would be moving to Crown. So, I don't understand this "taking a strong school down" argument. Oh.. is it that you don't want those brown/black kids from GHS as part of "Wootton"? Not a good look for you. |
