As a Democrat, it all feels hopeless.

OP, it's not just Democrats who feel hopeless. There are Republicans who feel hopeless too.

They need to run Gavin Newsom and Harris as VP

Yes, Kalifornya has turned out splendidly.

If you’re looking at dollars, California has beat the pants of all the other states, yes

Interesting choice - with CA being the mess they are in now I'm surprised that would be your pick.

From the other side, aside from being a little too green, Sarah Huckabee Sanders would be a good option for the Republicans.

It's about time we had a female president, and I could see her perhaps in the running in 2029.

CA still holds one of the best economies in the world, let alone the US, and is now being helped from the recent SCOTUS decision.
As much as I hate SF with a burning passion, you have to concede that "the mess" there is pretty damn impressive in terms of business environment for massive tech companies. Newsom is the type of smug, establishment democrat leader I'd expect to win.

You realize that WP did a very in depth analysis of Trump's schedule when he was in office (and that was 8 years ago when he was "younger") that showed that he worked very few hours each day and spent much of his time watching political news. Look it up, I dare you. This was based on logs of his scheduled meetings, interviews with White House personnel, etc. 8 years ago. But yes, it's Biden we should be worried about.

Trump made decisions and got things done.

Biden has a committee running the country and he rubber stamps their LWNJ ideas: wide open border, going easy on crime, expanding the welfare state to where it breaks down, showing Iran with cash.

Nope, Biden's been the worst president since Carter.

What is your beef with Cali?

Everyone wants to live there and it is thriving.

There's a really strange internet culture that loves pouncing on California when, in reality, it's a pretty nice place.
People will post images of poop on SF sidewalks like it doesn't happen anywhere else.

Oh yes, among the lowest student test scores K-12 of all states, high rates of crime to the point where they stopped reporting it, a heavy homeless population and a helluva budget deficit.

Newsom and the California State Legislature (democrat controlled since 1970 *) has been awesome... in destruction.

* Both chambers of the California legislature have been controlled by the Democratic Party since 1959 except from 1969 to 1971 when the Republican Party held both chambers and from 1994 to 1996, when Republicans briefly held a majority in the Assembly.

What did Trump get done...the wall that Mexico paid for?
He cut taxes on the wealthy and corporations. That's it.

..and still contributing a helluva lot more to the US than Texas and relies a lot less on federal dollars to operate. Republicans also love states with violent crime, so not sure we want to start that argument.

He kept four countries in line: China, Russia, North Korea and Iran.

None of the crap over the last four years would have happened except for our weak-kneed president Biden. He's been disgusting in foreign policy.

I'm a Republican that doesn't hate California at all. I frequently vacation there. It is painful to see our crown jewel of a state ridden so roughly with bad policy, though. Even London Breed started being honest that the state of San Francisco is unacceptable. Children live in the Tenderloin and have to walk through those streets to get to school, etc. It's the worst I've ever seen, and I've seen the bad side of many places (the bad side of Baltimore, bad areas in the Middle East, etc). It is just not acceptable for any American state-- much less rich, gorgeous California-- to allow this kind of decay and rot.

I will still vote for Biden. Here are some things I'm sure of.

1) Trump will likely win.
2) It will be a rough four years for many groups. Things may spiral into larger issues.
3) I will have valid passports for everyone in my family.
4) Trump's election is the result of larger forces that are evident around the world.
5) I will limit my consumption of media (and browsing/posting on this site).
6) Prayer helps.

Oh true, instead Ukraine would've been flatlined to a pancake so Donald could have fun calls with US Ally Putin! Maybe he would've gone golfing in China
