As a Democrat, it all feels hopeless.

Lawfare didn’t work; democrats should not have installed a senile man and a highly unpopular and incompetent vp who is worse than the senile guy.

You sound steeped in right wing lies.

Biden isn’t senile? Do you think he’s really ok?Do you think anyone noticed he’s not ok?

Why did democrats spend millions of dollars of taxpayer money trying to put Trump in jail?

Trump broke the law that’s why he was found guilty.

I think Biden is old but isn’t senile. I think the economy is doing very well. I think Biden has accomplished a lot in his first four years.

Trump is unfit for office because a) he is a convicted felon, b) the case he lost against E Jean Carroll, c) he tampered with having false electors/votes in AZ and GA, d) his previous term in office lead to many Americans dying of Covid e) his previous term in office he spent the bulk of his time watching tv, tweeting, and golfing, f) his time as President enriched him and his family from pure corruption and graft, and the biggest reason: g) he incited January 6.

Hell yes, I’m voting for Biden.

Because he is a bad person aka criminal who should be in jail so that he can’t harm anyone. Since we believe in the rule of law we are using the courts rather than guns.

You'd think.

But after nominating a senile, geriatric unpopular old man who will be 86 and who likes to "sniff" women, I'm pretty confident Democrats can screw up everything

Um, Trump is gross, so not concerned there. The Trump/Vance policies are anti women.

Yeah but there are lots of women who are angry about their grocery bills.

Yes, having more mouths to feed when you can’t afford day care and groceries will help that. Project 2025 will do away with emergency birth control.

If only the DNC hadn't been stupid enough to let the unelectable Clinton run. Biden would be coasting to the end of his second term, a good Vice President would be in place to win in November, and we would have been spared Project 2025 and the next round of conservative Supreme Court justices. Hillary and Ruth Bader Ginsberg have a lot to answer for

How about the Rs could have impeached Trump? He is clearly a disqualified candidate. They could have put forth a less crazy candidate and Biden wouldn’t be running at all.

Why even leave it to Republicans?

How about having a competitive primary with smart and qualified candidates under the age of 86?

Just a thought.

The point is Trump is completely disqualified to be president based on his actions. The fact that we are here now is complete insanity.

+1

Based on your opinion? That’s not what the world runs on. Your opinion is not the reality for everyone else.

Most people in the world think the US is insane for supporting Trump again, except for dictators who will benefit from Trump winning.

That was true 5 years ago but not anymore. Now, he's a latter day Rasputin, virile enough to attract models and porn stars while eluding multiple prosecutors, impeachments, coordinated take-down campaigns and now a an assassin's bullet. He's a goddamn legend.

It seems like Biden is a lame duck. He is unwilling to go after Trump or even campaign. This is a disaster.

So...assuming Biden does decide to step down, who would be running against Trump? VP Harris? Not sure that would be much better.

OP, it's not just Democrats who feel hopeless. There are Republicans who feel hopeless too.

They need to run Gavin Newsom and Harris as VP

You realize that WP did a very in depth analysis of Trump's schedule when he was in office (and that was 8 years ago when he was "younger") that showed that he worked very few hours each day and spent much of his time watching political news. Look it up, I dare you. This was based on logs of his scheduled meetings, interviews with White House personnel, etc. 8 years ago. But yes, it's Biden we should be worried about.

Interesting choice - with CA being the mess they are in now I'm surprised that would be your pick.

From the other side, aside from being a little too green, Sarah Huckabee Sanders would be a good option for the Republicans.

It's about time we had a female president, and I could see her perhaps in the running in 2029.

I'm basically through the five stages of grief at this point. I've come to the realization that nobody can run this country to the satisfaction of the masses, and the pendulum will swing back the other way in 2028.

Yes, Kalifornya has turned out splendidly.

What leads you to believe that the GOP will allow there to be elections in 2028 if they win? Like literally they have been unwilling to deal with Donald Trump, have protected him from consequences as much as possible. Heritage Foundation, who pretty much ran Trump’s term, have already decreed that the 2024 election is illegitimate.

I see no responsibility from Republicans toward them protecting democracy but we have decades of them chipping away at it.
