Can someone explain being a member of gym that lacks towel service & showers?

I understand if it’s a hotel you’re staying in or a luxury apartment building you live in with a gym—both allow you to just go to your room and shower. But I don’t get how all of these people get in their cars, metro or walk home gross and sweaty after a workout? Many presumably go onto work right after. Even if you’re not super sweaty, your clothes and hands are gross from being all over the equipment. Being able to steam or sauna after a work out and shower with fresh towels is my fav part of my fitness routine. I wouldn’t want to work out if I didn’t have that access. Yet all these gyms without towels and showers look packed day and night.

They are cheap.

Mine has showers, but no towel service, and that's fine with me. I like plain vanilla facilities because they come with plain vanilla prices. But like you, I don't want to get in the car all sweaty, so I use the shower.

Cheap. I don't have to lug products to shower with to the gym. I'm able to get in, do my work out, and get out.

I carried wipes around with me and a change of clothes if I needed it.

What is your favorite part is not necessarily someone else's favorite part - can't you see that? Come on.

People go home and shower. 99.9 % of people are not going straight to work. I’m not using a nasty gym shower. And yes I sweat. My gyms have showers but no one uses them.

Having to lug around my own towels to the gym would be a PITA. Plus add like 10 towels to our laundry per week since I use two every visit. And I like to put one towel on the floor while I get dressed, so I’d hate to put those locker room floor germs in my bag and bring them home.

I would never shower at the gym. Too much to lug around. Back home for shower

My club showers seem fairly clean. Everyone uses flip flops of course. I feel far cleaner after a steam and shower with their fresh towels than I would jumping in my SUV all sweaty after each visit.

If I had the lifestyle where I had to go from gym to somewhere I would absolutely get a luxe gym with all the trimmings. I've never needed that. I don't mind bringing my own towel to the Y to do a fun class and then heading home to shower. Plenty of people keep towels in the car to sit on and hand sanitizer.

Ahh DCUM. Never change. Your obsession with germs is off the charts.

I would be completely disinterested in being a member of an any fitness club where I couldn’t shower and have fresh towels. I honestly can’t wrap my head around it. Unless I literally lived in the building, no way does that interest me.

+1 I don't want to haul all my stuff to the gym. I go home to shower.

It seems like your car would quickly start stinking? And doesn’t your face and back breakout when you don’t quickly shower after being sweaty?
