| This is an anonymous forum, so let’s be real: do you get jealous when your kids’ friends and classmates get admitted to more prestigious colleges than your kids? |
| Nope, not at all. I grew up knowing juuuuuuust enough kids who burnt out in various ways from pushing themselves that I value mental health above academic bragging rights. |
| Yes |
|
Not for my first kid. He has special needs and his trajectory has been nothing short of miraculous. Maybe for my second kid? We'll see. I'm only human. |
| No but people are jealous of me and where my kids got in. |
+1 Let the haters hate. |
| Yes if they aren’t deserving-like the rich kid without a single Honors class getting into UVA. That kind of thing is infuriating! |
Ha ha this isn’t your thread loser |
| Yes, particularly the ones with unfair hooks |
Which hooks are fair? |
I guess. But then, just think, your kid probably is primed for "bigger and better", so to speak. |
Same. Roll Tide! |
| One of my kids was waitlisted at UVA and was all set to go to an OOS flagship. They got off the waitlist and took the offer right before we had a graduation party for them. When one of the parents of her friend showed up and learned that they were going to UVA instead of the other school she was visibly annoyed. It was kinda funny. |
| Not jealous. Sometimes anxious about the American economy, and how my kids will fare given the widening chasm between haves and have-nots. |
| Not really , but I do think about the connections they will make from going to a particular college. |
