Just traveled all weekend. No idea if it's Covid, flu or stomach bug but he feels
Awful and feverish too. Anything to do other than fluids? Just took a Tylenol hopefully didn't vomit it up yet. Feel so bad for him. He's camped out in his bedroom floor. |
| Meant camped out bathroom floor. |
| Poor kid. Probably a gastrointestinal virus. I've had some bad ones. Hydration, rest, bring fever down. |
| btdt.. in a public bathroom. At least he's at home. |
|
Electrolyte fluid might be helpful -- Gatorade, Liquid IV, etc. Hope he feels better soon.
In the meantime, get out your disinfecting spray or wipes and tackle inside and outside door handles, sink faucets, and toilet flush handles to help protect everyone else if it's something like norovirus. |
I know! He asked me to come sit w him! He's 18 and I couldn't say no because it was too sad. But I didn't stay long lol |
Don't feel bad. It's not like you can do anything. Just check in on him once in a while. My son had a bout of this in the middle of the night. I gave him a pillow and a sleeping bag so he could spend the night in the bathroom, then I went back to sleep. He just needs to flush it out of his system. I've btdt a few times in my life. |
| Norovirus and other bugs starts at nighttime when the food digests. Did it start in the middle of the night? Only time can help him now. |
| Noro--get out the bleach and clean down all the surfaces. Keep him hydrated with gatorade or anything else he can keep down. I just had the diarrhea version of this and it is not fun. It will pass though. |
Except disinfecting spray or wipes don't work for norovirus only bleach kills it. So unless you stock bleach spray and wipes or straight bleach your suggestion wouldn't work at all. |
Harsh. I would stay with my kid who wants his mom. It isn’t funny to not be there for your kid. |
Oh jeez chill- I sent my husband in who has a stomach of steel. I stayed for a bit too and then got him Gatorade. |
an 18 yr old dude does not need his mom in the bathroom while he's crapping on the toilet. -signed a mom of an 18 yr old boy who has gone through this |

Is diarrhea or vomiting more concerning or the same?
Also, at what point is it worrisome if he's not feeling improvement or can't eat? 48 hours? - OP |
|
It’s probably just a norovirus. He should try to hydrate and rest.
