And that has nothing to do with today’s PP and its mission. The founders of this nation, the writers of the Constitution owned human beings and thought Africans were inferior. Yet we do not dismiss this country or its Constitution because the founders were flawed.

I noticed PP likes to set up its abortion mills in poor minority neighborhoods. They are clearly targeting poor black girls and women. They are racists just like founder Margeret Sanger was.

PP provides healthcare to women. It’s really disgusting how much you hate that.

It's interesting that I never hear anyone say they've been to PP for healthcare. They do mention going to "doc in a box," emergency room, primary care physician, internist, OB/GYN, or the health dept.

Their mega-profits come from all the abortions,
not "healthcare".

It’s a non-profit, moron.

Their “non-profit” is a tax status,
not a business model.

SMH. Non-profit is the business model. Any excess revenue generated over expenses gets put back into the organization -- continuing to further the good work of the organization. It is in no way treated like a "profit" - it's not being distributed to anyone.

Don't they get about 500 million each year in federal money? How is that amount factored in to what you've said?

That is reimbursement for patient services. It’s not just a whole bunch of money the US treasury gives them.

I’d love to see those cooked books!

I’m sure these are examined with a fine tooth comb by anyone who hates their existence. Cecile Richards testified to Congress for hours about this a few years ago.

So, when you mentioned excess revenue, is that after factoring in the approximately 500 million reimbursement?

Are you a man? Do you think women are going to discuss their annual exam with you?

I know a lot of women who went to PP for their annuals and for birth control when they were in college and just starting out in their career.

I know a lot of women who went there for their annual exam and birth control in college and early 20s. It wasn’t so easy at a regular gyn 25 years ago.

Last year, PP provided:
4,712,985 STI Testing and Treatment
741,352 HIV tests conducted
240,489 STIs diagnosed
2,620,867 Birth Control Information and Services
1,870,664 Reversible contraception clients
631,510 Emergency contraception kits

Approximately 402,000 Unintended pregnancies averted by Planned Parenthood’s contraceptive services

570,444 Breast Exams and Pap Tests
296,310 Breast exams provided
274,145 Pap tests performed

70,193 Women whose cancer was detected early or whose abnormalities were identified

1.2 million People reached through education & outreach

Lotsa STI testing. Why are STIs so prevalent?

How prevalent are they? Many people get tested before entering a long-term relationship. Doesn’t mean they have a STI.

Why would they think they might have a STI?

They may have had - gasp - sex! LOL.

Just because they are tested doesn’t mean they have a STI. Not good at analogies or logic, huh?

Many people have had and continue to have - gasp - sex but practice monogamy with a person who is not part of a risky sexual network--someone with sequential and/or concurrent sex partners. That doesn't by any means totally prevent, but it does help reduce the risk of getting STIs.

I know two women who were in long-term relationships (years long) with their boyfriends and those men cheated on them. They have STIs of the incurable kind. Another woman, who was a virgin, got an incurable STI from her first partner (in her 20s). Believe it or not, it can happen even to monogamous and "good" girls.

PP here. I agree. I have a friend who experienced a similar situation. I hope you read the last sentence of my post.

I know of schoolmates who went to PP when they were early twenties, looking for birth control. That was before Obamacare got them coverage

And btw, I want people to get tested AND treated for STIs frequently and easily. This testing benefits everyone, from monogamous partners of cheaters to curious people, everyone! Even Anna Duggar would benefit since her religious spouting husband is a cheater

The right isn't just coming for abortions. They want to ban birth control as well. They are projecting their Victorian era atitudes towards sex and love on the rest of the population.

What happened to separation of Church and State?
Anonymous
Oh, hell no. No birth control? And no abortions?

Sounda like something from the handmaids tale

Yes, the ultimate prize is overturning the Supreme Court cases which guarantee a right to birth control, based on the Constitutional right of privacy. When Clarence Thomas mentions birth control 36 times during his batshit crazy eugenics opinion, that's what he's talking about.

This is about more than abortion. We're not being Pollyannas. If you want to keep all your reproductive rights then you need to vote with that in mind.

It’s all part of a larger war on women to keep them in place as producers and carers for men’s children. It’s the same mentality that leads to this poor young mother getting 5 years in prison for her baby’s death:

https://theappeal.org/babys-death-in-mothers-bed-leads-to-5-year-prison-term-but-was-it-her-fault/

I won’t entertain or respond to those who try to defend this cruelty. Women and children deserve better than the sh1t world these sorry ass men have created for them.
