Letter from VHSL

Knew them rednex down there were going to uphold.
It’s going to be Oscar Smith now.

Idk. Battlefield is strong and could be the last team standing. I actually think Battlefield had a better chance of winning it all than Hayfield.

As a fan, I was looking forward to seeing Hayfield, Battlefield, and Madison clash with the best Richmond, and Tidewater teams. It’s a shame that the haters had to get involved.

A lot of non Hayfield people were looking forward to those matchups. I do believe it all would've remained under the radar if the team moms hadn’t stated fighting. If the one team mom had given up her position quietly and accepted the new team culture, we would be none the wiser.

But now her kid gets playing time in the postseason for SoCo. So I guess she’s having the last laugh as they say.

Nah cuz he on team but don’t play, lol
But question is if this team mom left Hayfield and the son now attends SOCO n this WHOLE thing is about football, what’s happening with that, because it’s obvious she moved her kid for. Same reason there coming after Overton for, or is this being overshadowed

Everyone wants to keep blaming this one mom. There were MULTIPLE people who came forward. Even had a letter from FCPS coaches about this mess. It’s about time he faces some consequences. He should be fired and so should everyone who allowed this crap to happen. That superintendent is a joke and made the county the laughing stock of Va. For everyone say buy the kids…those 20 something knew what they were doing and knew it was wrong.

That poster has a point. That kid went transferred to south county for the sole reason of playing football. They need some type of discipline as well.

That kid got special consideration to transfer because he was being bullied by Overton, the other coaches and freedom transfers.

So without actual fact this kid got “special consideration” based off allegations to go to SOCO of all places where it was mentioned in a post a while back they normally beat teams the way Hayfield has been this year, why didn’t she take him to Edison or Justice, specimens been noted that’s it’s just for football. You can’t penalize one school for one thing only to allow another based off speculation. Because if said kid was truly being bullied and the coaches knew why wasn’t he fired before the season even atarted

For the record today Ms Reid meet with the Hayfield Principal. What they talked about who knows….

Some quit playing altogether because they were pushed out of their positions by Overton's clown show.

So some of you pretentious adults think kids are entitled to play because, why? If kids are better then kids are better. Unfortunately, life isn’t fair people get jobs positions and favors a lot of times based off who they know. This isn’t a color or race thing this is fact. The way I hear some speak is we don’t care if the kid is good enough just put them on the field because it’s their time.
I get some peoples point but others are just ridiculous

They are a JV team playing Varsity teams.

Sounds like some bad coaching as well, not a single point

Per VHSL, after Overton convinced all his favorite/PME players to transfer to Hayfield, the Freedom team was left with zero coaches, only two seniors, and only 6 other returning players *total*. The entire football program is only 50 kids and 42 of them did not play varsity last year. That's completely insane. No amount of coaching can fix that in a season.

What u just wrote is completely Asanine in itself. The program ran with between 45-52 kids while he was there now that he left this coach only has about the same that Overton did during his tenure. But if the were PME meaning pre 9th that’s on the parents regardless of what you say, allegedly you know that 42 didn’t play last year meaning the whole program is first year players in HS, to boot. Man make it make sense

Unfortunately the burden is on you to make it make sense. The decision to ban is confirmed… there is one final appeal and the burden is on Hayfield to prove it doesn’t make sense.

Same reason FCPS didn’t find anything wrong during their “internal investigation”. Sweeping crap under the rug. I would be surprised they overturned the decision.

Different situation. He applied to move and was approved result of bullying (that Asst Coach’s post continue to give more evidence for). This is very different from recruiting players, they transfer and then people try to make up a story after they get caught.

No one ever has anything to say about Overton's treatment of this kid. Curious.

What were you expecting, him to be like the coach in the movie Friday Night Lights, kid felt a way got “special consideration” to leave and left was the coach supposed to feel a certain way. If the kid had the guts to fight for his position on the team he would have, but it seems him and mom wanted it handed to him so he left.

It’s ok when he beats ppl onside kicks when there already up and so forth but when it happens to him he crying like Devin Haney over the Ryan Garcia fight. He is just one of many area coaches that want to see Overton lose because honestly he’s a better coach and at the end of the day it’s still about ego

Are you an adult? Who writes like this? Looking at the social media pages of some of these clowns I don't get how they are associated with a school at all.

His hand picked players, who paid him for training, were getting the positions. If the commonwealth's attorney had guts, he'd be prosecuting. Paying a public employee and receiving a benefit is corruption and bribery

Thank you for posting this. Interesting is 2 rules violations. And letter says clearly VHSL placing Hayfield on probation and that Hayfield may appeal. Hayfield’s spin on that was no violations found and only recommendations. Spin. Spin. Spin. I vote for VHSL to increase penalties and say first “recommendations” were too light.

We need to be more upset at the school administration who said everything was ok. Everyone of those people, one way or another, contributed to the abuse of the people who stood up against these. I would want every administrator fired. Fired!

doesn’t matter how many transfers they had or what year they came. If a team had players that transferred in last year just to play football, they are just as much in violation of the rule.

can you name a single other school where that happened?

Soco
Fairfax
Westfields
Robinson

Where's the proof? Show us where they played this year, and last year.

You can go back to when they won states you can go back to when then had Oren Burks years also

You go back, and show us rosters and proof. You are the one making the claim.

Nah, I’m just someone in the KNOW of how he worked moved and treated people and kids, but this is only about him because he’s a sore loser and one of the many coaches that have it out for I error because it potentially strengthens them because they lose if he’s around

So, you tried to throw sh!t on other schools but refuse to provide any proof (easily available thru online rosters).

You have zero credibility. Overton is an epic cheat.

You guys are the ones stalking Hayfields team and the players on the roster. Posters have mentioned other teams doing the same thing. Stalk those teams players and rosters and you will find what you are looking for if you want to find it.

Seems like you only want to find the information if it’s against Hayfield.

Translation: Hayfield/Overton are guilty as h3ll. I can't find any information to defame any of our competitors to deflect attention away from this dumpster fire. Please find some dirt for me as I can't find any. Oh look, a squirrel. Overton is the best.

On the note of team moms, what happened to the tens of thousands of dollars collected by the new team mom, using an outside money platform outside the organized booster structure sanctioned by FCPS?

She is going to receive a 1099 for that money and have to pay taxes on it.

I will be watching for that. Apoplectic Apostle mom better have her stuff right.

This story did just disappear! I'm curious too.

The other story that came up in summer but then died was that reporters could not find financials for coach’s non-profit training company. All other non-profits you can pull prior year records from IRS site. Nothing comes up for their non-profit, but is called a non-profit. Reporters said they tried to find but couldn’t.

Thanks for that. Some of us are going to all over this now.

Wow Reid really screwed this up spectacularly. How did VHSL find 9 more transfers when FCPS spent "400 hours" and half a mil investigating?

People need to be fired. This is corruption.

No class whatsoever. Hayfield coaches and Michelle Reid just keep embarrassing the county.

This is absolutely trashy and disgusting. High school sports should not involve any of this garbage. I am so embarrassed by the entire administration.
