I know this is a short term solution but it shows she's not at all in touch with the needs of the shell-shocked staff members watching this play out in disbelief. There's a reason so many see leaving the system as their only option for self-preservation. I'm so disappointed in the BOE. They've been fed lies for years and accept them as gospel. How much evidence do they need to see they got this wrong? Time to exercise courage and find stronger leadership who can dig us out of this hole.

These people are not coming in to run MCPS. They’re all know to the board and are there to observe the superintendent.

No they aren't they are all literally McKnights friends. She even dedicated her dissertation to one of them. She's bringing in people she knows will cover for her and protect her. She only cares about herself.

In the end, her continued insistence on rewarding loyalty over competence will be her undoing.

Correct. Incompetent people reward loyalty over competence.

They vote on all her admin appointments.

Not on acting appointments.

This is an issue. Why are the rules different depending on the time of year the opening occurs? It’s a little shady how almost every school that was assigned an intern admin back in March magically had their admin moved at the end of June/beginning of July. Then, magically all those interns became acting admin. Seems unfair to the interns and the school communities.

It's not about the time of year, it's that acting appointments are temporary and often need to happen quickly.

Everything in MCPS is about gaming the system, whether it's a principal who delays listing a position because they have someone in mind or a central office official who times an administrative appointment to avoid the need for BOE approval or a DCI employee or someone in the general counsel's office who offers a settlement to the squeakiest wheel, rather than doing the right thing, to avoid a lawsuit. You need the right position, the right connections, or expertise in the secret ways of MCPS to avoid getting screwed.

Maybe these people will be loyal enough to tell her what’s going on in her office.

So the report was received September 8th but no action until with personnel changes until October 11th the evening before the redacted report went public. Why wait a month?

I'm sure they had to vet with legal counsel and HR on the processes they would need to follow to make these actions. That's not something most school systems can do on a dime.

Arguably, maybe that could been done in a week or two rather than a month, but I think that's splitting hairs and doesn't make that much of a difference.

As an outsider it looks very much as though their crisis communications firm told them some heads had to roll or else.

Then the crisis comms team is worth the money they're being paid. Even though this should have been obvious to Monifa and friends.

Is Joel Biedleman still employed by MCPS?

The proposal to hire the crisis communications firm wasn't approved until October 12th.

Stop with all the facts. This is supposed to be about gossip and conspiracy theories!

LOL Hiring Jackson Lewis was never approved.

Obviously BOE actions are meaningless.

Would be good if Nicole and Alexandria could confirm this, but MCPS deflects and punts on any and all personnel decisions. So it'd have to be someone on the inside leaking this information.
