What I'm getting from these events is that this is a person with mental health issues, who perhaps fantasized about an escape from her life, then bad things happened, and she may have been assaulted. Which would explain why the police is being very sensitive.

I refuse to judge, because there is a lot of mental illness in the world, and I don't think it's right to criticize without knowing the person.

If that were the case, I would empathize, but CR is a spoiled narcissist who did this for the attention of her ex-bf and others. The police are being sensitive to give her the opportunity to come forward, but she is instead on vacation and fighting with people on social media.

Wait fighting with people on social media?? Links please!

Her Facebook and Instagram are still public. I'm not on either but I have seen lots of screenshots.

Screenshots of her arguing with people, posting that she's done nothing wrong, and hashtagging herself on everything.

The ones that went on the Today show and lied?

I think they believed her, were simply in denial their child could have done something so horrible. I can’t imagine how they must be feeling right now.

To me, that doesn't matter. They had their daughter back. They should have shut up at that point. Why did they go on the show? To defend themselves and their daughter's honor - purely selfish reasons. By going on the Today show and repeating her story, they stoked fear in the community and made it even harder for victims in the future to be taken seriously. I would have sympathy if they would have kept a low profile and let this play out.

You and your arrogance also have the benefit of being an armchair quarterback.
You're not emotionally involved (and exhausted). You didn't go through 3 long days of no sleep, not knowing where you child was. You have no idea.

Hindsight is 50/50, and you have no idea how you'd react in the same situation.
You couldn't know, and if you say you do, you're lying.
This situation is completely unrelatable.

I imagine they were being advised of what to do/say by family, friends, other influences, etc and they followed someone's lead.

These aren't professional scam artists, they're people who believed that their daughter was missing and may not see her ever again, and when they find out she was lying, they probably didn't know how to proceed from there.

From what I read, the show was booked long before she came home .. do you think they were gonna let them back out without a fight?? Shows like "Today" (who are in DAILY ratings wars with other morning shows) put an immense amount of pressure on these types of families, and make promises they usually don't keep.

It's a situation that her parents weren't mentally prepared for -- they deserve our grace, not your never ending judgements.

They raised her. They have an idea of what she's capable of or at least know more of her history that this didn't come out of left field. Probably some permissive parenting is what led to this situation in the first place. Hopefully this is the wake up call the entire family needs in order to get help or open their eyes.

If you don't think good parents even wind up with kids who are messed up...you have not lived very long.

+1 so true. Sometimes good parenting cannot overcome one's genetic makeup.

Does being a good parent mean you can’t admit your child’s mistakes and shortcomings? Why is the assumption the parents are good? What do we know about Carlee and her upbringing? Seems like there are some issues in the household.

There's a video on her Instagram of her parents surprising her at her high school graduation, like literally at the ceremony, with what looks to be a BMW. https://www.instagram.com/p/29C4SXyy5v/

That screams indulgent parenting.

I see nothing wrong with this. Rich kids get expensive cars all the time. The problem that I have is how it’s done. I hate the show that was put on. I hate to see this take place at sweet 16 parties and graduations.

It's gross.

It looks like they all are attention seeking idiots.

The dad looked super uncomfortable on Today, but mom may be where CR got her attention seeking, honestly. Bet the family sues the police on some pretext.

CR has a significant personality disorder, at minimum. She is a liar and a thief and has delusions of grandeur. She should certainly never be licensed as a nurse.

Wow. That says a lot. Where is she on vacation? Seems like she needs some kind of inpatient treatment.

Curious if she will get prison sentence like Sherri Papipi who lied to Police about her abduction.

I think they will fear some race related lawsuit and won’t charge her

No. Bad things did not "happen". She did bad things on purpose. There is no evidence that she was assaulted; she made it up. There is also no evidence that she is mentally ill. Mental illness is not a catchall excuse for bad behavior.

Thank you for saying this. I get so tired of people calling all bad behavior a mental illness. Like WTF, no it’s not. Some people are not mentally ill and just enjoy doing horrible things to others.

Hoover police at the police conference stated that they have other internet searches from CR that leads them to be understand her mental state but out of the privacy of her family, they will not be releasing those at this time. Umm that means she has a mental illness.

No it doesn't. She might have been googling how to get knocked up by a professional athlete or how to start an Only Fans, or some other embarrassing research about how to get attention. Mental state doesn't mean a poor mental state, and a poor mental state doesn't mean a mental illness.

Searching for "how to get an abortion in Alabama" would not mean mental illness.

Mental state has nothing to do with mental illness. My mental state right now is “frazzled” because I am packing for a 8am flight in the morning. When I’m on the plane tomorrow watching Netflix, my mental state will be zen. No mental illness.

I think she should be fined for making false statements to police but I’m over the internet lynch mobbing effect. I don’t want to see her commit suicide or self destruct.
