It absolutely is sustainable. You just need to let go of all the wrong information you’ve heard like healthy carbs are fine, everything in moderation and things that lead you back to carbs and over eating. |
Hahahaha. Sara Lee Pound Cake ingredients: Eggs, Enriched Bleached Flour (Wheat Flour, Niacin, Iron, Thiamin Mononitrate, Riboflavin, Folic Acid), Sugar, Butter (Cream, Salt), High Fructose Corn Syrup, Mono- and Diglycerides. Contains 2% or Less of Each of the Following: Water, Leavening (Sodium Acid Pyrophosphate, Baking Soda, Monocalcium Phosphate), Corn Starch, Salt, Milk Protein Concentrate, Modified Corn Starch, Guar Gum, Xanthan Gum, Sodium Stearoyl Lactylate, Vanillin (Artificial Flavor), Annatto (Color), Soy Flour. NTY Poundcake recipe: Butter, Sugar, Flour, Eggs, Vanilla, Heavy Whipping Cream. Do you now see the difference? |
Sadly I do and if someone on a diet thinks that a pound of butter mixed with sugar, cream and other diary is going to be in any way healthy or low in calories just speaks volumes about everything that is wrong with this country. |
Are you obtuse? Of course no one is saying that you're going to stay thin by eating an entire poundcake. But, you have to wonder what we are doing to our bodies if we feed ourselves these artificial chemicals for decades and decades. And this was in response to the PP who seemed to not get the difference between highly processed food vs "processed" (i.e., made in our own kitchens) foods. |
Do you make the butter? The sugar? That is one of the most highly processed ingredients. You are a complete dolt. |
They also eat lots of pork. |
I swear some of you miss other pp’s points on purpose just to call names. Most people are going to eat cake. If you make it from scratch, it isn’t healthy, but it isn’t anything your body doesn’t recognize or that we haven’t eaten for hundreds if not thousands of years. If you buy it or make it from a mix, it’s just that much worse for you. |
The Zone! I hadn’t thought of that in decades. |
This article really spoke to me. I am in my 40s and my parents live in Europe. I see them once a year. 3 months or so before seeing them, I starve myself because I don’t want to deal with “you will get diabetes, you gained weight, you make enough to have a personal trainer, you have such a beautiful face if only your body was in better shape”. This cycle has been going on for almost 25 year since I left for college and moved away. I am realizing that a lot of my weight problems stem from the fact that I lose a lot to appease my parents and then regain more once I don’t see them. |
55 female - greens, peppers, mushrooms, yellow and green squash, asparagus, broc, brussels sprouts, cabbage, etc. raspberries, blackberries, low carb high fiber breads and tortillas, high protein dairy. No sugar, flour, grains, no cereals, no oatmeal. most proteins. I lost 15 pounds in 2-3 months. Yesterday when I went to the doctor, my blood pressure has gone from borderline high to solidly normal. I will be vefy interested to see if there is a change in my bloodwork. |
I would, by far, prefer that my children eat a cake baked by themselves to a cake baked by Sara Lee. 1) no preservatives 2) they see how much work it takes 3) it tastes FAR better! 4) great activity |
Can you tell me more about these thyroid medicines you are on? I'm on a very low dose of ty=hyroxine. I wonder if I should up the dose as I feel super sleepy in the afternoon, interfering with working out/work/ life. ![]() |
Exactly. |
My mom is similar. My dad he never says anything negative. And I'm not fat! 1) their family doesn't get comfort from food (seemed liked a jab at me) 2) you look so good! (when I'm 114# rather than 125) 3) He (describing an 8 year old) is the one who looks a little chunky. (expressing concern about him) 4) Are you getting a little chubby? (directed at me whenever I'm not #114) I'm not fat, normal BMI. But I'm predisposed to thinking I'm fat unless I'm 114#. In fact, even then, because my mom has bird bones. |
Unithroid and recently started supplementing with beef liver pills and myo-inositol. Low iron and previous PCOS dx. I will try to integrate liver into our diets but its a big step. |
