chief equity officer job requirements & salary

How does one apply to become an equity officer? Is there a job description somewhere? At $232k, it appears the position pays more than what a teacher can ever make with a PhD

https://govsalaries.com/king-nardos-e-143711008

The max an fcps teacher with Phd can ever earn is $135k

Presumably you need a degree in the field, though I imagine an experienced teacher or admin could take a handful of courses and trainings and be certified by some organization or other.

Thank the all-democrat School Board and Dr. Reid for this sort of waste.

Time for a return to focus on academics in FCPS. Vote republicans onto the Board.

Sounds like a bs job , might be to avoid lawsuits which would cost more

Sounds like it’s more likely to cause than avoid lawsuits

This is ridiculous. What does an equity officer do? Probably just creates red tape for everyone.

It's easy to learn what this role is.

This is a valid job -- "champion, and sustain educational equity and an inclusive instructional and work environment" -- especially as long as outcomes are markedly different for different subsets of kids. If you really believe in public education, you believe that we are a better society if everyone is educated and given opportunities for success. We are humans with biases and having a person who is accountable for looking at a large education system through this lens in appropriate.

How about the internal leadership pay scale? Top pay is $181K. Principals make more than teachers.

https://www.fcps.edu/sites/default/files/media/pdf/FY23-school-based-administrator.pdf

The leadership pay scale is below. There are 28 employees listed as being in top leadership positions on their website.

Various Titles include CFO, CIT, COO, Chief of Schools, Chief of Staff, Chief Academic Officer, Chief Experience and Engagement Officer, Chief of Facilities and Cap Programs, CTO, Chief of Schools, Division Counsel, Numerous Asst. Superintendents, Exec. Director and that is just a list of Top Line Leadership. (see below for the salary breakdown). And per the pay scale below all of them make more than teachers.

People in executive leadership positions are paid more than those who are not in executive leadership positions. Something tells me the equity officer's job involves a lot of wind-mill jousting and a high degree of tongue-holding. Is this a job you aspire to?

Do you have an interest in equity initiatives? If not, then maybe that's not the job for you; maybe you are more Chief Experience and Engagement Officer type; if you were a cheerleader in HS, this sounds like something that might be up your alley. And no, I don't have the job description, but it does sound kind of fluff, and I am almost certain that, yes, you will be paid more than the PE teacher (who has a Ph.D. in PE with a master's in PR) but who also coaches the Cheer squad.

Do you know anything about leaky pipes? Then maybe Chief of Facilities is up your alley, and yes, you will be paid a lot more than the janitor or building engineer supervisor, some of whom may hold at least AS degrees in mechanical engineering or maintenance.

Teachers don't make as much as those in leadership positions, including those in internal and external leadership positions. Principles make more money than teachers. Assistant principals make more than teachers. Should teachers make more than principals?

Is this news to you?

Dr. Reid and all of the high staff are already laser focused on equity. I don’t think we need a stand-alone position.

Why? Chief Equity Officer is expert in Science and Technology?

Are you really trying to be stupid?

Looks like another coordinated hit on FCPS. Some Moms of Liberty just got some bonus points for starting this thread and will save them up for some extra wood at the next book burning.
This is so boring.
