I'm sure this sounds great to you, but there would be thousands of federal workers that do not make as much, often getting by paycheck to paycheck. They would not be able to afford food for their families, much less gifts for their children.

And perhaps you're thinking of travel since hey why not if you can't go to work plus it's the holidays, but you will be stuck. The airports will be a HUGE mess between TSA agents, CBP agents, and FAA workers calling out.

I'm picturing a disaster if the gov't shuts down in November.

I'm tired of hearing GS-14 lawyers talk about how badly they want a shutdown. We get it, you're financially secure and can afford a couple missed paychecks, but many federal workers and contractors actually suffer when Congress can't do its job.

This is a good time to remind everyone to submit approval requests for outside employment! I sent mine in four weeks ago and haven’t heard about it yet. Anyone else?

Should I be taking my 130+ hours of use or lose now instead of saving them for the second half of December/early January?

Or do I get an extension on them if a Shutdown prevents me from taking leave? (very likely I would be furloughed)

I think we got an extension in past shutdown but who knows
