Are US News rankings making DC rethink college list?

Are 2024 US News rankings making DC rethink college list or early applications?
Anonymous
Would be so silly if they did. The college did not change since last week.

You people REALLY give USNWR too much power
Anonymous
Yes. Applying to one or 2 more now - ones that fell in ranking because they may be 'easier' to get in. It is all psychological but whatever.

My kid stays away from the ranking because we are being our decisions on things that are real not fabricated.

Yes Chicago is out

Not involved in this cycle but I'd think hard about Chicago early too. Chicago was much lower in Forbes and WSJ already and now dipped significantly in USNWR outside the T10.
They can't just cap core class sizes at 19 or market their way out of it either.
Northwestern might be back to being the top option in the midwest again.

The overall set of major publication rankings make me feel more comfortable with the LACs at the top of USNWR than I probably was in June. Seeing Amherst and Swarthmore in the top 25 of both combined rankings and Williams also very high in one of the two, made me feel better. I'm sure they provide a great education but external validation can help.

A little worried because some top targets are publics that moved up significantly. I wonder how that will impact out of state app numbers.

The stupidity is great here. Chicago has been a T10 school for decades.

If they’re in the T25, they are already impossible for oos.

NW was the top Midwestern school around when I was looking and applying at the end of the 90s and early 2000s.
I'm pretty sure Chicago wasn't T10 then. It had like a 70% acceptance rate

One was ranked high but two others were lower, although those two may have increased their ranks by even more!

I don’t think your memory is accurate. I’m older than you by a decade and Chicago was a T10 then. And it has been in the T10 throughout the 2000s. https://publicuniversityhonors.com/2015/06/13/u-s-news-national-university-rankings-2008-present/

I’m not a Chicago alum.

Remarkable stability prior to this year for Tufts and Wake Forest as well.
