Good luck changing your international flight and getting a new ticket in 48 hours. I just checked - they can go from Charles De Gaulle to NYC for only $400 (and a full day layover in a country with a massive outbreak). Or they can go direct for $2,000. |
These super spreaders need to be quarantined indefinitely |
Which country? I thought Italy banned all flights! |
Charles De Gaulle is in France. |
No where is the layover? You said a country with major outbreak? |
Amsterdam and Vienna. Vienna has more than 250 confirmed cases. Amsterdam has more than 500 confirmed cases. https://coronavirus.jhu.edu/map.html For reference the Netherlands is the size of Maryland and Austria is the size of Virginia (bit smaller). |
My bonehead boss took a trip (with elderly folks, donors) to southern Europe last week, despite mounting evidence it was a bad idea. Why? Because he didn't want to miss his vacation that he tacked in to the end of it. Also, from afar, he refused wfh requests.really hope he gets stuck there |
These are the details Read them!
https://www.dhs.gov/news-releases/press-releases March 11, 2020 — Today President Donald J. Trump signed a Presidential Proclamation, which suspends the entry of most foreign nationals who have been in certain European countries at any point during the 14 days prior to their scheduled arrival to the United States. These countries, known as the Schengen Area, include: Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland. This does not apply to legal permanent residents, (generally) immediate family members of U.S. citizens, and other individuals who are identified in the proclamation. |
Oh I’m sad now- I thought it was all flights from Europe after Friday. |
This doesnt really constitute as travel but I dont know where else to post. Supposed to drive from DC to Philly next weekend for a wedding, which involves sleeping in a hotel and my inlaws coming to stay at our house to babysit the kids for the night. Do I still plan to go?? |
Correct. Her argument for going is that daughter will only dance 1 day. I now wonder if there would be an issue getting back (to DC). |
We have a family wedding to go to in Philly suburb in late April. We already RSVP’ed but things are not looking good. All four of us were planning to attend but if this continues, we will probably not go. |
Yes same here. One can hope that although the ban doesn’t apply to them, it makes citizens realize they shouldn’t travel to Europe. |
Oh! My! God! Stay at home!!! |
Thx. Im so nervous to not go- its a close family member but I guess will see how things are looking as it gets closer. |
