Why are you having to point out her ethnicity? Is there any other girl in the story?

Because a lot of foreign born Asians don't know how to swim. Swimming is not part of Asian schooling curriculum like it is in VA public schools.
My Asian roommate in grad school could not swim, ride a bike or drive. Those are considered essential life skills here, but not in Asia. Some parents might teach their kids but more likely, the kid masters them on their own.

What?? How can someone not know how to swim?

That seems like a very racist generalization against Asians.

I live in loco. Huge Indian community. Very nice people, most can’t swim. Them the facts. Sorry. Doesn’t matter anyway. Even the best, sober swimmer would have issues in that water. Especially in pitch black.

Anonymous wrote:Its so incredibly obvious that she drowned, drunk. It's the only logical explanation. I don't understand the finger pointing at the other drunk kids. Yes, they were on spring break. Kids do dumb sh!t on spring break. I also did incredibly stupid stuff in Daytona Beach in 1996. Most people get lucky, she didn't.

It's predominantly one YOU pp who must be part of the family community in some way but absolutely refuses to accept this "logical" explanation, even as a possibility. It's beyond comprehension to her that the victim here may have made some unwise decisions (or that she drank alcohol or may have been drunk). So she continuously attempts to divert the thread with conspiracy theories, mostly naming and pointing to the guy. The other group are true crime junkies.

Investigators have named him a POI. Why are you so hysterically trying to obfuscate that fact?

Investigators clearly stated today (Thursday) that a POI is an American term, not a DR term. They said NO ONE is being looked at criminally.

DR wants to protect tourism.

Women are weaker and she was far smaller. She didn’t force him anywhere.

He was holding onto her in a very controlling way, not just supporting or affectionate.

Was his shirt torn? How did he get the scratches? Did his missing shirt or shoes have blood on them?

His whole town is the size of a large HS. People who know him will know if he is an angry drunk, disrespects girls or is some gentle giant type.

Typical DCUM, always looking to blame the man, to the point of trying to see if he was an "angry drunk".

The beach and waves there were treacherous. It was 4am and dark. She was drunk. Perhaps she... drowned in such dangerous conditions?

Disgusting to imply this man did anything to her. Everyone in this situation used bad judgement.

The man last seen with a missing woman is always a key suspect and often her killer. Our only proof she went in the water is his, and he changed his story several times.

Authorities this morning said they are not looking at this case as a criminal matter.

They are holding the guy’s passport and he’s being monitored in a hotel room by LE. Word games.

It was also stated he is free to ask for his passport back and leave at any time. His dad is with him, and he's cooperating.

It has been well documented by now that head injuries sustained by NFL players may lead to what's known as chronic traumatic encephalopathy, or CTE. The disease seems to be slow but progressive; essentially, the brain deteriorates over time. Early CTE symptoms include impulsivity, explosivity and aggression.

This guy was more likely to be volatile, esp when he chose to get trashed.

The amount is gross speculation on this thread is unhinged even by DCUM standards. You’re throwing CTE in the mix now?

He’s a football player.

A former HS football player, right? We’re not talking about a college/NFL player.

Swimming is not part of VA public school curriculum. That is entirely on the family to teach.

- signed a VA public school grad with two VA public school teenagers.

Swimming has NOTHING to do with this BUT you are wrong. Our NOVA schools systems have swimming in elementary school and high school.

They certainly do but. I teach in the school system. You’re a troll.

Certainly do NOT. Typo. Swimming is absolutely not part of VA curriculum. How stupid to even think that.

Different poster here
Maybe it's part of your schools systems, but that is on a county/school district basis. It's not part of every school district in Virginia. The PP said it is not a part of "VA public school curiculum"-meaning the entire state.
So YOU are the one who is wrong.

Someone who cannot swim would be less likely to go in water.

I would think that someone who actually IS an experienced swimmer would be less likely to go in the water. An experienced swimmer knows how reckless that would be.
The non-swimmer/less experienced swimmer wouldn't realize the dangers

I'm not a troll. Where do you teach? My kids took swimming in APS and FCPS. I sub in APS.

DP. Maybe the poster who thought so lives in a district that does have swimming in curriculum? Other counties in VA do not.

Swimming is part of the FCPS curriculum. No way are you a teacher.

The guy in question was or is a lifeguard. Whether he was drunk or not, he may have known not to go in.
