Because a lot of foreign born Asians don't know how to swim. Swimming is not part of Asian schooling curriculum like it is in VA public schools.
My Asian roommate in grad school could not swim, ride a bike or drive. Those are considered essential life skills here, but not in Asia. Some parents might teach their kids but more likely, the kid masters them on their own.[/quote]

I live in loco. Huge Indian community. Very nice people, [b]most[/b] can’t swim. Them the facts. Sorry. Doesn’t matter anyway. Even the best, sober swimmer would have issues in that water. Especially in pitch black. [/quote]
