Are Covid cases increasing again on college campuses?

Now that we have our first kid in college, I am on the Facebook page of parents and two have posted about dorm kids having Covid. I don’t want to freak out. Is this unusual compared to the spring semester? Or are there always some cases ever since colleges returned to in person?

I’m not trying to be flippant, but have you read the news in the past two weeks? Covid cases are up everywhere, not just campuses.

It is all over my kids' campus. Whatever.

Your kid is probably going to get COVID at college. The key is, keeping her from bringing it home. If she gets it, she should stay at school to prevent spread. And before she comes home from break, have her do a couple rapid tests and also test her a couple times once she gets home.

We got a hepa filter for our kids dorm room and encourage her to leave the window open. And of course she is up to date on vaccinations.

They're rising everywhere, OP. I hope you knew that. We sent our kid with masks and a little first aid kit with the basics.

Yes, COVID cases are up on college campuses and everywhere else. Now part of the usual freshman flu cocktail of illnesses that occur when you bring people from all over the world and put them in confined spaces.

Like anything else, treat symptoms as they occur. Stock up on cold and flu medications and grind through the first few weeks.

I don't understand this "whatever" attitude. Try to be careful so you can avoid. Family of 5 (all adults), we haven't had even one covid.

+1 DD got a bad cold during orientation and then COVID a couple weeks later. It's like kids starting daycare. Everybody gets sick.

I told my son to give his OTC meds to people on his floor who needed it so he could make friends. We have very different values.

My DD at UMD had COVID last week She said it is all over campus
