Special Ops: Lioness (Amazon Prime)

Anyone watching this? It’s not bad, but Nicole Kidman is unbearable - and I typically love her. It looks like she’s had the “lip flip” procedure and she speaks in a super low, very slow, monotone cadence. SO ANNOYING.

Zoe Saldana, whom I also usually like, is also an annoying character. Very abrasive and a terrible parent.

Agree with all of the above, and the writing is beyond awful.

I watched the trailer and thought it looked promising except for Nicole Kidman. The way she is talking is so distracting and kept me from getting immersed into the scene.

I loved NK in Big Little Lies and can't understand why she's playing this character in such a weird way - I guess it's to impart "gravitas"? She sounds like a robot. Awful.

Nicole Kidman looks so strange and can’t move her mouth anymore.

I thought she had cooled it with the work but she looks and speaks like a bizarre emotionless zombie in this dumb show.

It's on Parmount + and it's a TV show. Sometimes actors are not likeable.

Just watched the trailer because I was intrigued by the comments about NK's voice.

Yeah, it definitely sounds like she is purposely doing something weird with it and it is super distracting.

Nicole needs to stop whatever she is doing to her face. The series is actually on Paramount+. I had high hopes for it but it’s just meh.

How in the world does Taylor Sheridan keep getting such big names in his basic-cable-quality shows?

I presume it's because of the success of Yellowstone, which resulted in big-budget projects, but his scripts are godawful. I don't get it either.

I thought Nicole Kidman had the same issues with speech/frozen face in Nine Perfect Strangers.

I noticed her face was frozen in Nine Perfect Strangers, but it kind of went along with the character. And she wasn't on screen all the time with that script. I didn't notice a weird voice in Nine Perfect Strangers, but I watched the trailer for Special Ops and whatever on earth it is she is doing with her voice struck me right away. And definitely not in a good way.

Thank you for that PSA, I'm well aware. I even said Saldana plays an annoying *character*. And yes, it is on Paramount+, which is also available on Amazon if you have a Paramount subscription.

I still can't get over what a terrible parent Joe is - leaving AGAIN when her daughter just gets home from the hospital and needs her so much. It's really hard to watch this aspect of the show. Her husband is far too understanding and supportive of her too. So unrealistic and unfair.
