Is BASIS McLean as good or better than the Big 3?

I honestly never paid any attention to this school until now but just googled it. They’re awfully specific about outcomes - and average test scores and college acceptances are off the charts. I can’t imagine that the Big 3 (which of course aren’t nearly as transparent) have better numbers. I know TJ’s average test scores are higher, but that’s about it. And BASIS is cheaper than the so-called “top” privates.

Not trolling. Zero connection to the school. Just genuinely curious.

I was reading a thread on the Money & Finance forum where a poster said she sent her kids there and I got curious and googled it. My kids are already out of college but went to high school in NOVA and I don’t even think the school existed when they were in school. I was impressed with what I read and asked a genuine question. You will not get any positive response regarding Basis McLean from this site. People here HATE the school. People here also HATE Nysmith. Oh well, people here also HATE TJ, GDS, Sidwell ... But really, they really HATE Basis!!

I don't think many hate BASIS. They're just weary of yet another post by either admin or a booster trying to claim the school is equivalent to a Big 3. It reeks of desperation and insecurity.

I get a real sense of private school snobbery/mentality when BASIS is brought up. Some people are truly shocked and offended is someone has something nice to say about a school other than their own kids’ school.

I would compare BASIS to a for-profit "cram" school devoid of humanity. It has customers but they are different from the Big3.
