Small weight loss goal? Esp for petite people with vanity weight!

Anonymous
I am middle aged and petite 5 foot person. Lack.of height is more unforgiving when it comes to gaining weight. I am not.overweighr but I have my weight range that I like to stay in. My range is five pounds. I only weigh myself weekly and eat a pretty clean diet 95%.of the time. Recently (past three months or.so) been a little more indulgent than normal. That extra piece of chocolate or three. That extra snack. A bag of chips. Or two. As a rule I don't generally snack but prefer to have three meals.a day. This morning I stepped on the scale and am now
nearly twl pounds over my range. So I need to lose between 2-5 lbs to get back into my range. I know some people will be annoyed at this. But it honestly is difficult for me to lose a few vanity pounds. Vs years.back, when I had to drop 20 lbs after pregnancies. I remember the first 10 plus lbs was not too bad. Maybe two to three months. But those last 5 pounds seemed.to take.three months! Has anyone else found that those last few pounds are so stubborn? For me I'm starting today. No more snacks no more sweet.treats.or chips. What are your tips to lose those last few?

Two meals no snacks and add an extra 30 min walk into your regular routine. No alcohol. High protein.

OP here. As I'm sitting here contemplating breakfast I briefly wondered if I should skip breakfast (other than coffee) and just eat at noon. You've given .e the push to do it with your suggestion! I'm a little hungry but mot starving. Noon is only 4 hrs away. Thank-you!!

I'm tall and the last few pounds are hard: I know it's even harder when you're short. I will always remember Carrie Fisher talking about how she was asked to lose 5 lbs for the gold bikini scene and at her height it was like losing an arm.

I too am 5 feet. I gained 4 pounds and now have an officially unhealthy bmi. It takes only a couple of slip-ups and i cant get my clothes on!

Calorie counting and watching my macros (staying low carb) and cutting out potato chips. I only have treats on the days I run for 2 hours.

I am 5 feet tall and try to stay within a range. I always go back to tracking calories/macros on my food app to lose the stray pounds.

Good luck!

I have the same problem, OP, even though I'm 5'4". Very fine-boned Asian. I think I need less than 1200 calories a day to stay at around 110lbs, which is the weight I feel best in. Right now I'm at 120lbs. It doesn't work for me to have a little ice cream after dinner, or any other treat regularly. But it's annoying to have to constantly watch what I eat!

My solution is to get a small set of dishes at H-Mart. Bonus: they're super cute and that makes me happy. I eat everything my family eats, but in smaller, differently balanced portions, because I've found that I need more veggies/less carb/less protein, when eating less, otherwise I get constipated. The ice cream? In a tiny, cute, dish.

But any slip-up registers immediately.

It sucks. I'm the same, since I hit menopause. I probably look FINE. But I'd look better five pounds lighter.

I'd rather be chubby than live like that.

Another five footer and same same same same. And I FEEL it when I go from my regular weight - not skinny, but very liveable! - to just a couple of pounds above. Like my whole body and my whole way of moving through the world will feel different. My regular clothes just don't fit. I HATE it - and it happens, just as OP said, with just a few extra calories per day.

I don't have any hack to deal with this - just, cut out those extra snacks, eat normal meals (no extra bag of chips) and up your exercise for a bit. I will not skip meals, I will not reduce my meals too much - I'm sure I could get back down more quickly if I did either of those. I really just try to do the slow and steady approach - and not to get too cocky once I am back to my regular weight, so I start eating more and putting the pounds - like seriously, three pounds - back on.

My husband, who has struggled with real weight all his life, finds my up three pounds, down three pounds, hilarious.

I can't afford a whole new wardrobe - and truly, at a few extra pounds, my clothes just don't fit anymore.

^ But also, to some extent I agree with you! When I put on seven pounds in my early 40s, I fought it for a while - and then I decided that I'd rather live with this and dress for this body, than always be fighting it. But then it was a couple more pounds, now, as I am about to turn 50, it's a couple more pounds. And look, I am not trying to get back to where I was in my 30s - I just don't think that's realistic for me now.

But I also am not ready to just see where the scale takes me. I like how my clothes fit when I am about 124 pounds. At 122 I feel like a goddess. At 126, my clothes get tight. At 127, I literally can't stand the feeling of my waistbands. It feels pretty normal to want my clothes to fit.

Yes. It feels really weird. I hate it. Ask other short women you know if they feel the same way. We just carry weight differently.

I'm 5'7 and I feel the effects if a few pounds. I think the difference between those who stay within a "normal" bmi range and those who are overweight and obese is tolerance of extra weight. For me, it's not how I look, per se, it's how I feel in my skin and clothes.
