Advanced Academic Programs (AAP)
Ugh. Really? When all along they've stated effectively just the opposite? Suggest leaving your projections at the front door before you leave the house... |
Really I heard that Asians who make up maybe 10% of the county still have managed to capture around 60% of seats so much for equity in FCPS. |
I'd read the same thing about other places that enacted similar reforms and you know what it never happened. The SATs remained the same as prior years. All this whinging about the sky falling is total nonsense. |
| Cite, please. I can’t seem to find any data on average SAT scores after new admissions polices had been enacted. Nothing about Lowell, NYC schools or LAUSD. I could only find data about student demographics, not achievement. |
You just made this up. |
FCPS will stop releasing SAT scores by the time the Class of 2025 graduates, so no one will know the impact (and that assumes students are still taking SATs, which may or may not be the case by then). |
| The best way to kill the meritocracy is to eliminate objective measurements of aptitude or achievement. TJ isn't about rewarding merit any longer; it's about allocating a scarce commodity (TJ seats) more broadly across the county. It's an attempt to send a message to Asians and those who bought zoned for "better" schools that the political power in the county resides elsewhere. |
It's only anecdotal, of course, but the two kids I know personally who applied this year were a white female with Algebra I and an Asian male with at least Geometry (possibly Algebra II). The former was accepted, the latter waitlisted. I'm no expert but based on the kids I know who applied over the past 4 years or so, this would not have been the case before now. |
While I disagree with the updated entrance requirements, you might wish to get out of basement periodically. Fresh air and sunshine... |
Yeah. How dare those Asian kids work hard and overachieve. It messes up the demographics of the top students and makes everyone else look bad. If only FCPS followed the fine example of Harrison Bergeron, we could then have perfect equity! |
Thanks for (hopefully) pinching these folks back to the real world... |

Except this isn't really happening some people like to spread hysteria but all the evidence suggests things are fine. |
| I have doubts about the census numbers of Asians in Fairfax and Loudoun. Classes in school and other public areas suggests a much higher percentage than 10-20. |
