.....except, many privileged white males wouldn't be able to earn high scores on AMC10 or the TJ tests, no matter how much their parents leveraged their privilege. They probably would be able to get tutors and keep a 4.0, as well as write decent enough essays after tutoring. In the old TJ system, mediocre, privileged white males didn't have a chance. In the new one, they'll look as strong as any other candidate.

Honors roll of TJHSST reduced from 85% to 60 %
Honors roll of Other schools increased from 15 to 40%

Colleges are businesses and will do whatever is in their best interests. They are moving away from test scores because they have realized that standardized exams are a great way to admit great test-takers, but not a great way to admit world-changers and students who seek to have a positive impact on the total environment.

TJ has done the same thing. One of the realities of TJ over the last dozen years is that fewer and fewer students were interested in the product for a variety of reasons. The admissions process changes resulted in a huge spike in applications, especially from underrepresented groups. 20% increase overall and 70% increase among Black and Hispanic students.

Citing the exam scores of the Class of 2025 may make you feel good in some pointless way, but they're not anything that anyone should care about in the slightest when we're talking about improving the overall academic environment.

So, fewer Asian students equal improvement in overall ACADEMIC environment. I see.

No - stopping the process of overselecting for test-taking ability at the expense of looking at contributions to the entire academic environment equals improvement in the overall academic environment.

If it so happens that test-taking ability and emphasis is what was causing TJ to be overwhelmingly Asian, that is a problem of self-identity.

They are still over represented and being over selected. That hasn’t stopped. It’s just not as bad.

Life is merit based, get used to it! We used to call it the American work ethic! Now it’s participation trophies for all- trust me, as a global executive the rest of the world is not dumbing down standards and tests and educations to make everyone feel included. We will lose our advantage and economy with these idiotic mindsets.

The posts above prove your point. Liberal insanity and hate will just alienate people and lead to loss of political power. which will be unfortunate.

Other countries major universities don’t make admission decisions based on parental donations or on if you play an obscure instrument that the orchestra needs that year. America doesn’t practice academic merit based admissions so Global companies can’t always gage the true “ best and brightest” by academic standards. The better candidate could be a community college to state flagship transfer over than an Ivy if the former was brighter but with less financial means.

I'm pretty sure that the epitome of privilege is having the ability to change the rules when you see that people you don't like are successful under the old ones.

Agreed, mediocre white people don’t like Asians succeeding so insist on giving them low “ personality scores” to reduce their admission rates.

Hard to deny that.

So true. And that's exactly why the changes are being made. Under other pretenses.

My kids went to TJ before the new principal and school board started on the campaign to make TJ just like regular base school. Makes me sad that there wont be a school that makes kids to get motivated and work for. Amazing job, i thought 100% to 0% to happen over few years, not in the first year itself.

Too much of the Asian community is going through an identity crisis. They think they are white supremacists. Asians can’t get away with the same practices the white supremacists do.

Please don't lump people advocating for race blind/neutral merit admissions with white supremacists. Way off base.

If these data are publicly available, can you share where you found them?

Your method of citation here invites more questions than it answers.

Except the "White people" have far more pluralistic societies than any societies run by Aslan or Black people.

Sad. The two Langley kids had the 9th and 15 highest scores in the entire nation for all 9th graders, yet people here will twist themselves into pretzels justifying why they weren't selected for TJ.
