Really I heard that Asians who make up maybe 10% of the county still have managed to capture around 60% of seats so much for equity in FCPS.

Yeah. How dare those Asian kids work hard and overachieve. It messes up the demographics of the top students and makes everyone else look bad. If only FCPS followed the fine example of Harrison Bergeron, we could then have perfect equity!

I heard that most of the kids getting in were from a prep center that gave them the answers.

Don't you know that memorizing the answers is hard work!

Amazing how folks are so comfortable slandering the students who actually dedicate time and prioritize academics over YouTube, social media, etc. I'd ask for proof of such accusations, but I know that you don't have it...

Didn't Curie post the last names of 30%+ of last year's admitted class as having attended just their prep center? I'm sure there are many deserving students but when one has to shell out for prep to have a shot at admission there's something horribly broken with the process.

Heard someone mention that it's "easier" to get accepted from TJ for LCPS student versus FCPS? Is this true that percentage of applicants who get accepted for LCPS is higher than FCPS?

I was suspicious of this. Without reviewing 28 pages, did numbers come out yet proving it?

Short answer. Yes. That's exactly what happened.

Ugh. Really? When all along they've stated effectively just the opposite? Suggest leaving your projections at the front door before you leave the house...

It would be a good idea for all Asians to boycott TJ. Equity will be established.

It wouldn't surprise me if this were true. TJ is such a long commute from Loudoun County that the only kids likely to apply are the ones who really want it. Also, they have AOS and AET for their top students, which may not be considered quite as good as TJ, but the commute would be much more feasible.

The official numbers from FCPS are 19.5% Asian and 5.7% multiracial. If you assume that most of the kids identifying as "multiracial" are part Asian (which seems likely...Lot of families with one white parent and one Asian one), then it would be around 25% Asian. https://www.fcps.edu/about-fcps

Just personal anecdata based on how the multiracial people I personally know have identified. The cynical side of me also says that people will identify in the way most advantageous to them. That means multiracial kids who are part Black or part Hispanic would be better off identifying as Black or Hispanic, whereas multiracial kids who are part Asian and not part URM are better off identifying as multiracial.

Yes, of course. Once the Asian kids are out, we will have our very own equity lottery school all to ourselves. Once we get bored of this, we can find another place to make equitable. Asian kids can got to private schools. I am sure it will be better for all

Afghanistan has fallen to the Taliban. And TJ has called to the Virginia woke Taliban.

TJ isn't about rewarding merit any longer; it's about allocating a scarce commodity (TJ seats) more broadly across the county. It's an attempt to send a message to Asians and those who bought zoned for "better" schools that the political power in the county resides elsewhere.

Except this isn't really happening some people like to spread hysteria but all the evidence suggests things are fine.

“All the evidence”? Just because the TJAAG have posted 1000 times about how great the change is doesn’t exactly provide evidence. The jury is still out on that one.

So in other words that is just an unreliable guess. Might be better to stick with actual facts like 19.5% otherwise it looks like your just trying to pad your numbers.
