Nope. I'm a woman. Haven't been in college for a long time, so maybe that's the reason? Seriously, I never hear anyone mention Planned Parenthood for healthcare. |
abortion is healthcare. so is getting birth control, pelvic exams, and std tests. I have gone to PP for well woman exams even when I had insurance for a "regular" OB. |
This was me. The PP was not in a "minority low income area". It was in a city with a major university (I'm talking close to 60K students) and we were "poor" because we were in school. Now I am well to do. Unless we have a HUGE cultural shift in this country, PP is needed. Those who think that people will suddenly stop having sex are living on another planet. |
I know a lot of women who went there for their annual exam and birth control in college and early 20s. It wasn’t so easy at a regular gyn 25 years ago. Last year, PP provided: 4,712,985 STI Testing and Treatment 741,352 HIV tests conducted 240,489 STIs diagnosed 2,620,867 Birth Control Information and Services 1,870,664 Reversible contraception clients 631,510 Emergency contraception kits Approximately 402,000 Unintended pregnancies averted by Planned Parenthood’s contraceptive services 570,444 Breast Exams and Pap Tests 296,310 Breast exams provided 274,145 Pap tests performed 70,193 Women whose cancer was detected early or whose abnormalities were identified 1.2 million People reached through education & outreach |
do you know the meaning of the word "healthcare"? |
DP. How strange. Do you have female friends? |
No, please share your knowledge with me.
|
For sure, and I work in a large school system. |
Given how judgmental you are about PP and the assumptions you make of the women who go there, I have a hard time imagining anyone would trust you with that kind of personal information. |
You must be confusing me with another poster. I'm not judging anyone. I only said I never hear it mentioned. Ever. Except in political discussions on DCUM, news, etc. |
So you’re totally cool with abortion? |
|
I went to PP in college years ago, but it's not something I talk about with friends a lot. I talked about it back then, but now I don't really have a reason to bring it up in casual conversation. I have no doubt that lots of people have been to one. They don't charge you money and that's a pretty big deal if you don't have insurance or you don't have a regular doctor in your college town. |
PP does a great deal for inferior people by providing contraception and abortions. Without them we would have even more problems. |
Lotsa STI testing. Why are STIs so prevalent? |
Why would a woman be punished here? She is free to have as many abortions as she wants. |
