2026 Girls Lax WCAC + ISL Outlook

While I know it’s off topic, NCS has better team colors than any of the teams in the AA battery bracket.

All great players! Will dominate the ISL in 2 years after gaining the experience. The sophomore class has a few players in it as well, the team is full of Capital girls.

Okay NCS freshman mom or dad, hate to burst your bubble but this won’t happen. One class of Cap Blue girls will not be enough. The perennial power houses like Sssas, Visi, SR and now Potomac all have impact players in each class. Even Saints’ amazing 2026 class has not been able to get it done through their junior year (lost to SR in ISL and Potomac in VISAA). NCS may rise to the number 5 spot in ISL (even that’s a stretch) but no way can touch the top 4. Those programs reload every year.

When did Visi become a perennial power houses?

Did NCS's superior purple and yellow help them beat Norfolk Academy (not very good) and St Mary's Ryken (number 5 or so in WCAC)?

Every high school season, there are almost 200 "Capital girls," most of whom compete in the ISL and WCAC. On top of that, when you include girls from M&D, Hero’s, and Skywalkers, the talent pool of top club players grows even larger. However, as you may have already noticed, only a small fraction—possibly less than 10%—of them are true impact players. For NCS to “dominate the ISL”, they will need more than just some Capital girls; they’ll require a strong concentration of those impact players.

They have high impact players, major scorers, a good goalie, and defenders. Plus all of the girls from cap blue are also starters there. They have the good players, they just need to get more experience.

Am I only one who had to look up who NCS was? Never heard of them. Definitely not a school that talented lacrosse players in the area seek to attend....

Parents falling for the coach/Capital recruiting director promising them more recruiting attention if they play for her at NCS.

Is the school at the actual National Cathedral or someplace else?

I’ll leave that one to you - take a guess!

It is not what you think but ok.

Moving forward the questions for this coming week are: (assuming schedule is correct on lax numbers)

Potomac v saints Tuesday
Saints v stab Thursday
Potomac at stab Saturday
Visi v stone ridge Thursday
Stone ridge v Milton Friday
St. John’s at archbishop spalding Friday

By the end of the week we should know who’s got the inside track for the isl and visaa titles.

Pretty sure good counsel and St. John’s are a lock for WCAC.

Can STAB continue momentum? Is Saints finally for real? Is VISI going to run the table or play spoiler? Is anybody capable of beating Stone Ridge? Does Potomac have enough to defend their title. Can St J knock off Good Counsel?

--Yes re STAB. They will beat Potomac, and play a close one versus SSSAS.

--Yes SSSAS is for real. Look for their tougher tests to be in the ISL playoffs at the end of the year when things get choppy for them. They should beat STAB and Potomac this week.

--Visi will play hard but will not run the table. SR will win that one.

--SR will play a close one with Eagle Stix (I mean Milton) and probably lose by a couple. SSSAS should win their regular season matchup on 4/28, which will likely decide the ISL regular season title.

--Potomac does not have enough to defend their title. May upset one of the other big 4, but will not win the regular season or ISL AA tourney.

--SJC will not knock off Good Counsel this year, although STAB, and SR (through 3 quarters) showed the way: use GC's defensive aggressiveness against them. Get to the 8M line, get some cards on them, and hang tough. Win draws and make some saves!

(Easy) Bonus predictions: Both the ISL regular season title and the championship will come down to SSSAS vs SR, and will be won by SSSAS.

Both the WCAC regular season title and championship will come down to GC and SJC and be won by GC.

I have never heard of NCS. I assume a NCS parent just found this forum and is posting non-stop. No one cares about low level NCS lacrosse.
