McLean leaving FVU

Would be a great plus and honor to have either as coach. The question is...will they retain or draw enough talented players to make the teams competitive.

Does anyone know anything about this Valor guy added to the slate? And does this really mean Valor is joining FVU?

I have no idea, but it’s interesting that TM currently coaches U12 Valor pre-ECNL boys and will be the coach for FVU U13 boys next year. Seems like a way to bring the boys from his current team to FVU. That Valor team is good. Given what people have said here, trying to go over to FVU with their current coach is probably a more viable pathway for them than NVA would have been. Loudoun would have passed them over for their own players.

100%. Those boys consistently beat NVA and I’m sure only a handful of them at best would have made that ECNL team over the precious nepotism there.

I think U13 coach is misspelled... Trey Messiah who is currently at Valor. Interesting.

Does this mean Valor is joining FVU?

I did hear Valor and another club may be partnering with Union. Strength in numbers.

What are these clubs bringing to the table besides money?

Call it what you want, but not having to deal with b.s. alliances sounds like a win to me in the long run for McLean.

Honestly, that "alliance" was frustrating for McLean. MV controlled who gets in and LO (MV was her mentor) was going to rubber stamp whatever he wanted. Thus, VYS got the lions share of slots undeservedly. I would have done the same if I were McLean's management... staying in FVU was a losing battle. Any new member of FVU better have more authority to deal with this control.

Sorry your MYS girl didn’t make FVU last year, but you are wrong. For 2012, VYS beat both MYS and BRYC twice in the U12 year, so “undeservedly” doesn’t really stand up. Also, there is only one more VYS than MYS former player on the FVU roster - again, hardly the “lions share.” For 2011, even though LO had been the 2011 coach at BRAVE, about 2/3 of the team comes from old Union. Both teams have worked hard to come together this year as FVU — it’s petty parents on the outside trying to sow discord.

Everyone knows the VYS feeder to FVU is horrible. We’ll see how the 2013 does. If they get the big numbers in FVU again they should rename FVU to MVU after MV.

What on earth are you talking about? Multiple 2010 FVU girls that are in pool for the USWNT came through Brave / VYS.

What are you talking about? Any kid in the US National Team camp can hardly say one of these clubs really developed them as a player. All these players are doing an incredible amount of outside the club training with clinics, trainers, private coaches and fitness routines. It's laughable. We are at top brand team and I swear, the coaches just benefit from which talented and motivated families show up. This year our club's training has consisted of about 80% scrimmaging. The kids that are doing amazing things on the team learned none of those things at the club level. Heck, some of these kids have connections outside the club with USNT scouts. Clubs like Brave and Vienna Youth Soccer have little to do with it other than providing a platform to play.

Not a Vienna parent. But will say this pretty much describes every club in the area.

And when you scrimmage at Vienna you’re not scrimmaging mid level players.

Your kid’s not that good. If they were, you wouldn’t feel the need to bash players that aren’t even mid-level.

USNT pool recommendations at the lowest age levels are as corrupt as the highest levels. It is a joke. Who gets the nod? Coaches pets, loud parents kids, and players of scouts that are also VDA coaches get the nods. Not the best players. Everyone knows it. USNTs will never compete until they do an overhaul at the lowest levels. Maybe pay to play is an issue, but this is the real reason the best kids aren’t making into the system. You want to see real corruption, look at the AC Futsol USNT recs. Almost a 100% pool list consisting of kids whose coaches were the scouts. Half the kids that made the pool that were listed as being picked from IDs weren’t even at the IDs. No scruples - total corruption.

If my kid were at Vienna then you’re right. They’re not that good. Unfortunately for my DD she won’t have an easy lopsided win against a rec team with a rec dad like Vienna.

No girls coaches listed yet... Must be a true tug of war between Vienna and ex MYS coaches. All looking out for their own interests, while the girls who might attend IDs are anxiously waiting to see if they will show up based on coaching slot, or not. Clearly, decisions not based on recruiting, or we would see coaching announced. This is clearly about money and contracts for coaching, not getting ahead of the story to recruit girls.

Certainly true for some of the 2011s that were picked. Team is weak and they can't score.
