wasnt there another coach on boys side that was also good but left? why did he leave?

Here comes the... "He left for family reasons, to spend more time with his wife and kids" like he hasn't been married for 10+ years and has older kids. People don't just up and leave their career to spend more time with family all of a sudden during a season. Let's be real

Coaches leave because they aren't give a the authority they think they deserve, the choice of coaching a team they developed, the backing of the director, the pay or all of the above. At HYS... It could be all of those things

I strongly suspect it is something like this. I can think of at least two instances where decisions were made/information, not shared with coaches in a timely manner. It’s a terrible way to treat a long time Coach, who is also a really good person. I think JLC is the problem. He is either on a power trip or really stupid. Maybe both.

Such as ?

That was the best joke of the year. 24-25 was his first year coaching girls. All their teams are being creamed... I knew youth soccer was rotten but that takes the cake.

Have any Herndon teams had winter friendly games scheduled yet? Our old club usually had these in Jan-Feb.

4 non-league winter games were listed as included in the fee when they sent the offer so I was just wondering if those are typically in Jan or Feb. I'd like to plan some weekends out of town but my kid would not want to miss games.

We have no winter games on our calendar and the coach hasn't mentioned any to the kids (just asked my son).

I haven't heard anything from TM but I checked the letter from last spring and it does list as included in the price 3-4 winter friendlies under December-February.

Our team has had just 1 tournament this year so really, if we are paying for scrimmages or friendlys, they should be happening.

Its mid-January already so not a lot of time to get 3-4 weekend games in by Feb.

If they get called on it, they’ll probably schedule Sat/Sun games for the last two weekends in February.

A lot of the teams play in ASIST which is usually last weekend of February for boys.

Yes and it was Herndon's own fundraiser tournament so really, come on!

No friendlies for our team this winter. Our team has also only played one tournament , Herndon's fundraiser. Our "tournament fee" was around 600 for the year.

We were supposed to do the President's Cup this fall and for some reason , were not registered for it this time even though other HYS teams participated.

I see on Instagram that there's a team at a tournament in Disney this weekend which was suprising.

^ 600 per player.

To add insult to injury, before HYS consolidated team finances right around Covid, they used to not charge teams to play in their own Dulles National Tournament and waived the tournament fee. Now that the club has consolidated all of the finances allowing them to better obscure what collected funds are being used for, teams now have to "pay" for this tournament.

Or is that just an excuse for bloating the per-player tournament fee and collecting more money from each family?

JLC gotta make his money somehow after losing it at VRSC.

So it sounds like none of the teams are playing the 4 winter games.

Wow. $600/player for tournaments is enough for about 6-7 tournaments, unless only half the players on the team are paying the tournament fee.
