| It seems too few but am I overthinking this? This was a recommendation shared to me for how many would be needed. |
| How old are the kids? |
| That seems insanely low no matter how young the children are |
| Ask the pizza place how many pizzas you need for 30 people. This is what they do for a living. They will know. |
| Are you serious? A normal pizza has like 8 slices. You are talking 27 people and 32 slices of pizza. So you are planning on offering one slice of pizza to each person with five left over? Bizarre. |
| But with double cut it's 64 slices of pizza. Depends on the age and appetites of the kid. Double cut is great if there is other food available, as it lets kids have as much or as little as they want with far less waste. If the kids are young I think it's fine. |
4-12 (sibling mix) This was actually the recommendation from the pizza place which throws me off some but I haven’t ordered pizzas in a long time. |
| pizza is so cheap, please just buy more. |
| I would get 6-8 pizzas. Four is not enough, single, sliced, double sliced, or even triple sliced. It’s the same amount of pizza. |
Op here. How many more would you say? I originally thought maybe 7 larges but the pizza shop thought that was far too many. But I wanted to ask here to get a feel for what’s common. |
|
That is only a recommendation from the stingy, food-hating DCUM peanut gallery who were raised by wolves. We get these numbers every time someone asks a questions.
Some factors will be how large are the pizzas (large means different things in a lot of places) and how long is the event? If it’s pizza at a play place, you can go on the lighter side. If it’s an event where people are hanging out for a while, go bigger. The average will be 7 or 8 pizzas, and more if it’s a hanging out party. Pizza reheats and freezes. Definitely double cut at least three cheese pizzas for the kids. |
|
For 27 people, you need at least 7 large pizzas (8x7 means two for everyone). Don’t double cut for that age range. They are too old to treat them like toddlers. Double cut for the under 3 crowd but not more. It is stingy.
You can always use leftovers, but running out of food is gauche. |
| For what it's worth, pizza keeps in the fridge for at least a week and also freezes very well. So, don't be paralyzed because you think you'll have leftovers. Assume at least one full slice (not half-slice) per kid and 2 full slices per adult. (The women will probably eat one slice, and the men will eat 2-3 slices because they are oblivious to how much they consume.) I suggest you get at least 6-7 pizzas. |
| I just had a party with 10 3rd grade girls — no one else — and 3 large pizzas were almost not enough. |
How old are the kids? And is this a 2 hour birthday party where the adults are parents hanging out, or a party where some of the people have kids and everyone expects dinner? |
