Why don’t we castrate rapists?

Anonymous
Thinking about the recent hiking trail rape, why don’t we castrate rapists? Why don’t we allow the victim the option to kick the perp in the groin area until he is in agony and then cut it off? Or lock him up and give him female hormones to tone down aggression? I have never been raped, but almost was and was able to get away and frequently think about that night (also in a trail) and still want revenge. It would bring me great satisfaction to hurt this person and watch him suffer and then have his castrated.

That’s not cruel and unusual to me. Seems entirely appropriate.

But yet, we have the death penalty and solitary confinement in this country. Both cruel.

I say castrate them. I worked in prisons for a few years in my 20s and I can tell you two people don't change. Rapists and pedophiles.

I get it, I've been raped. But I also get things are a slippery slope. Have you gotten therapy? I know that anger and therapy really helped.

The constitution needs to be updated.

I am sorry that happened to you.

Ok, so don’t castrate but allow the victim to release her anger on the perp.

Seems appropriate for pedophiles/rapists.

Luckily “to me” is irrelevant under the law.

Outside of the cruel and unusual punishment thing, there is also the problem of false identifications and false accusations. It’s the reason that the Innocence Project exists.

There used to be a thing called "chemical castration" which meant the perp was drugged to the point they never wanted to or were able to repeat the offense.

Then why the death penalty?

Except they would stop taking the medication and go back to their old ways. There are a few pedophiles who choose to take this medication to curb the "cravings" but again, having worked with them, I wouldn't trust them period and would prefer castration.
