I don’t mean party school in the derogatory sense, as in kids aren’t serious about their studies as well - but more in the sense that partying is a ubiquitous part of the culture |
JMU |
I’d say JMU for sure. UVA is probably second, but very much a work hard/party hard culture.
VA Tech don’t know enough about it. Only kids I know there don’t go out and don’t find it very social but I doubt they are the consensus. |
UVA. Polos and pearls. |
JMU and I’m a Radford graduate.
|
Tech is extremely social and there are lots of parties. Don’t know if I would place it as top of the three though. |
I would agree with JMU. I've had two kids go there, both not big drinkers, and both found that to be an issue ![]() |
This is so not accurate anymore, can you stop perpetuating? No they don’t “dress” for football games and no the girls don’t wear Lily Pulitzer and pearls. |
They looked like students at any other school when we visited. |
Same here for my DD. And we are drinkers, have no problem with the kids partying responsibly at college -- not pearl clutchers about it. JMU is over the top. |
Lots of coke at JMU. (On the rise at all schools though.) |
Lots of coke at Tech in the late 90s as well. Big Greek life scene, bar scene... so to the PP who says its not a social school, wrong lol. |
JMU it's not focused on smarts like STEM or top state college |
UVA & JMU |
Many of their students are. |
