Not a troll, I went to VT late 90s and was in a sorority. PLENTY of my sisters did coke and E. |
Yes. |
I've had two kids at UVA and neither has mentioned that term. Both were serious students and not into Greek. Neither knew it. so I googled it. I guess it's now universal for daytime party. Oh, ok. |
What- they don't dress up for football games anymore at UVA? When did that stop? - UVA grad but it's been a few years.... |
so sad for you. I went to a SLAC where lots of partying went on and was president of my sorority and never once imbibed which was fortunate because I had nothing to declare when I went through High security clearance back when they scrutinized every single time you used pot. |
Yes, only, which are off campus. you can go all four years (as my kids did) without ever setting foot in a greek house or getting involved in a drunken brawl. Less than a third of UVA is greek. |
That stopped about 9 years ago |
lol what. So sad for you that your sorority sisters did drugs? |
Haha guess they do not frequent Rugby rd on a Saturday afternoon. Just goes to show that not everyone has the same cookie cutter experience at UVA. There is a place for everyone from the partiers to the non and every one in between. |
I got a TS clerance back in 1994 and they most definitely did NOT scrutinize every time I used pot. Don't know about coke, however -- never used it. |
UVA is the same. Not drinking is a personality flaw. |
Sorry, but that is not true. UVA absolutely does not have a place for everyone. It is one of least friendly schools in the state, and a lot of kids can't fit in there. |
If you say so? I was responding to the PP who said she has had two UVA students and neither knew anything about darties, so that obviously means they never did anything with the Greek life side of things at UVA. Do you have a specific story to tell as to why you consider it "one of the least friendly schools in the state"? I have two kids there now, both very different, and they love it and have made some amazing friends. |
+1 Mom of a rising “atypical for UVA as described by DCUM” third-year student |
Dp. It was tough socially at UVa for a serious student from a very rural county in SW Virginia. People here have no idea how desperately poor people living in rural Virginia can be. No fancy clothes or shoes. Most UVa students were from suburbia and had a lot more money. They could not relate to him. He was like a cast off. By the end of the semester, he had no cash left, so he only ate the 12 meals/week from his meal plan. He did graduate on time and had a challenging major.
I have often wondered how his life went later on. I know he was planning to send money home after he got a job, so they'd have money for food and heat in the winter. Yes, they were that poor. He was oldest of 3 kids. |
