Later start times aren’t going to fix Upper Darby High School.

We just set our clocks forward 2 hours, and it's just like schools are starting later. You should try it.

Teens need more sleep and a later start time would help with that, but it would also disrupt the scheduling of other things, impact family life, and cost the school district money, so it’s not changing any time soon. The kids just have to get through it, the way generations before them did.

It's easy! They can just ... no, they considered that, and decided against it, for [reasons].

Or, they can just ... no, they considered that, and decided against it, for [reasons].

Or, what if they just ... no, they considered that, and decided against it, for [reasons].

But they could just ... no, they considered that, and decided against it, for [reasons].

If you want high schools to start later, here's what you need to do: figure out how MCPS can get 160,000 students to school and back, every school day, without putting over 100,000 of them on a school bus. School start times in MCPS are a transportation issue.

The model proposed in the article has kids technically still starting at 7:30 am, they're just supposed to do so remotely. I think that's a joke and I wouldn't want to trade instructional time for that.

Besides, let's be real, push the start time to 9:00 and teens will just push their bedtime back to take advantage of the later start time. Anything before noon is "early" for teens.

My high school started at 8:30. All of the schools started at the same time.

No, because kids would get home later and go to bed even later so it will not help at all.

Stop making sense and give in to my unreasonable demands. I don't care about all these facts and reasons. I just want schools to start later now that MY KID is in high-school.

Before posting please read the extensive study McPS did on this about 5 years ago which resulted in pushing back start times by 20 minutes. I don’t think anything has changed since then.
