| sure, Harvard and MIT on top, but after that? |
|
Boston College
Boston University Northeastern (I know, I know, others would put it higher, but they've gamed the system) Also, Emerson & Berklee are excellent for acting/music etc. |
|
As someone who is local, here is how things tier out in my mind (each row is its own tier, not ranked within each tier) - also, didn't include state schools or schools outside of the metro Boston area:
Harvard/MIT BC/BU/Tufts/Wellesley/Babson Northeastern/Bentley/Brandeis (Deliberate space here) Anything else you've barely heard of - Suffolk, Merrimack, Curry, Simmons, Lesley, Stonehill, Endicott * Emerson, Berklee, Wentworth, MCPHS are specialized in my mind so I didn't rank them. I never know where to put Wheaton. |
| Depends on what you’re pecking. |
|
Tufts
Wellesley Boston C Boston U Northeastern Brandeis Babson |
| Olin? I know it’s not in Boston but if you include Babson? |
Good list |
Updated list (for the year 2000 forward): Harvard/MIT Tufts Wellesley BC/Northeastern BU Others |
Also strongly depends on major. Top Business Schools would include Northeastern and Babson and Brandeis; Top Engineering Schools would include MIT, then Tufts, then Northeastern. BU has always been known for Communications, but I am not sure that Communications is a major any longer? |
This is right |
|
Tufts
Harvard/MIT Wellesley BC/Northeastern Clown College Canine Obedience School BU Things are shaking up in Boston. Most people who haven't been living here don't realize it. |
| Always thought BC was a solid third on its own. Is that still correct? |
|
Harvard/MIT
Tufts/BC BU/Northeastern/Wellesley everything else |
I agree with the first two, but what about Tufts? And why are BC and Northeastern in the same tier...I lived in Boston for a hot minute about a decade ago and Northeastern was not thought of as on par with BC. |
I agree. I would even put MIT at the top by itself, because Harvard is not known for their engineering. BC and BU and Northeastern have all shifted so much in the past few decades, and so many people have no idea. |
