I agree with the WPI ranking. But WPI is Worcester though, then you have to rank Assumption, Holy Cross, Clark etc |
No way - Northeastern is not on the same level as BC (and I have no vested interest in BC, but having gone through the application process twice recently, am convinced that Northeastern is falsely inflated). Tufts/BC Northeastern BU |
| As someone from Boston who graduated from one of the schools in everyone’s top tier color me shocked that NE is even on anyone’s list |
|
Harvard / MIT
Tufts / Wellesley BC BU / Northeastern |

Here’s the hierarchy of schools, at least when I went to MIT in early 2000s. I’d rank based on how much people want to go to that specific school and what schools mixed with each other.
Harvard MIT Wellesley BC Tufts Brandeis BU Northeastern UMASS Boston, Emerson, Lesley, etc Berkelee music in its own category |

1) Wellesley
2) Northeastern 3) Tufts 4) Boston U 5) MIT 6) Brandeis 7) Harvard Sorry, thought it would be fun to stir the pot by using the alternative ranking below, which didn't include BC. https://lesshighschoolstress.com/blog/6/ |
Specific programs aside, how is the average BU admit any different than the average NU admit? |
Agree, these are very far from Boston. |
|
Harvard/MIT
Tufts Wellesley Olin (hard to place because so niche and so small) Boston C Brandeis Northeastern Boston U Babson Bentley UMass-Boston Emerson the rest Berklee is amazing but belongs in a ranking with like schools |
|
MIT
Harvard Tufts BC Wellesley Northeastern BU Brandeis |
this would be funnier if you hadn't included Commonwealth |
as well as Tufts or BC admit |

Harvard MIT Wellesley BC Tufts Brandeis BU Northeastern UMASS Boston, Emerson, Lesley, etc Berkelee music in its own category [/quote] We live in Mass and this is generally correct. That said, pecking order and popularity are two different things. Northeastern is a hot thing right now, although many think that it is not academically the same as Tufts, Brandeis, and BU due to it's co-op program. In fact, it's kind of a different animal and is celebrating in the light right now. Still, one cannot go wrong following this general list. |
I agree with this statement. MIT/Harvard Tufts/BC/BU/Northeastern/Wellesley These schools have distinctly different vibes, which could make them appealing to different types of students. Some students may have a strong preference for one over the other. |
