Savannah Guthrie’s mom is missing, suspect kidnapping

Anonymous
The son in law or someone he knows is the only thing that makes sense. A random burglar would have just beat her up or killed her and left her there. She wasn’t abducted for sex or trafficking. A professional kidnapper/ransomer would have been better at the ransom part of it and a lot sooner too. Also likely would not have taken someone so old.

I don’t know her the motive for son in law and/or daughter but nothing else makes any sense.

Maybe gambling debts

The newest letter had something in it that convinced them they had their mom and her response has coded words sending a message back to them. Celebrate and peace and “we understand you” seem especially coded to me. The whole thing is so so so weird it’s actually like agitating my spirit.

It's all written by a team of FBI hostage negotiators.

+1. No doubt Savannah got expert advice here. FBI and/or private K&R.

The octogenarian version of O. Henry’s The Ransom of Red Chief. I like it!

I agree this is a possibility. And it could be that SIL didn’t participate directly but rather helped or gave the idea to those trying to collect on his debt.

THE SPECULATION IN THIS THREAD IS SICKENING.

Some of you are absolute scum.

I have to agree and I think Jeff should consider setting this down. This is a cesspool of speculation and baseless accusations.

I kinda think it has to be someone who lives close by and did this on foot. Any vehicle driving on that road at that hour would stick out like a sore thumb and surely would have been captured on camera. I think it is possible that a neighbor pounded on her door saying there was an emergency, and they needed her help. The blood was minimal for someone that age and could have happened if she nicked her arm or leg on something while rushing to the door or if the person grabbed her arm. Then they could have taken her to another location later in the day when it wouldn’t look suspicious. A neighbor could know about her security system and her routines.

Is it about last Monday or this Monday? I thought the ransom didn’t show up for a day or two after the abduction.

Right. And she was probably gone by then. This whole kidnapping was a horrible idea from the beginning, both because of its cruelty and criminality and because of the medically fragile nature of the victim.

When is kidnapping ever a good idea?

Never, of course.

They aren’t baseless. The man’s car was impounded and police spend hours last night photographing garage in the dark. These are facts.

This whole nation is watching this kidnapping and the events around it. Jeff can shut down this thread, but that won't change the fact that this is part of a national conversation at the point.

That seems like it would still be pretty risky, to hold someone nearby for so long, and I don't know if there really is a good time to come and go without being noticed since the neighborhood seems really isolated and also seems to have older people who are home a lot.

+1. And the facts/circumstances of the case are totally bizarre and unlike any other.

I agree. Savannah said her sister is her closest friend. If that is the case makes no sense for the sister to do this for money. She has a decent networth if online info is accurate and I would not be surprised if Svannah did the tax free gifts of money each year.

That’s exactly why it makes sense that it was a neighbor. They could have held her at their house and then drove her to another location later in the day when it wouldn’t draw any suspicion that they were out and about.
