What’s most important to know about Solidcore if you have plates and screws in your leg?

I’ve heard it’s difficult, I’ve heard it is torture but what is the most important thing to know about SolidCore? Can moves be customized?

do you have any restrictions on your movements? Everything is on the reformer machine. It's difficult, sometimes torture so I do as much as I can and take breaks when I need it. No one has ever said a word to me - it's too loud in there!

Thanks PP. This helps! My restrictions are in total flexibility in that leg. It’s the right leg fwiw.

Tell the coach in advance, OP. I did a ton of solidcore in the Before Times and the coaches always ask about any limitations in advance of class. They’re not going to push you into something you physically can’t do; if they know in advance, they can keep an eye out during class.

Thanks PP! I’ll be sure to! This is good to hear!

I’ve done solidcore for years with a plate and screws in my leg. Try more experienced coaches (look for head, pro or senior master) who will work with you. Try a foundations class. I’ve gotten much out of the workout even though one leg cannot bend to 90 degrees most days. It’s my favorite workout ever even after eight+ years.

Love solidcore! Agree with others - tell the instructor beforehand, take breaks as you need to, and use the supports like handlebars and a bar to start out. The coach will come over to you and help you with modifications if you need. The thing I love is that everyone is so focused on their own machine during class that no one really notices anything you're doing. It's way more of a supportive and all-levels environment than I thought it would be before I started.

Consider pilates. RTR has advanced classes that will work you and probably other studios do too. Classes tend to be smaller than solid core and there are lots of ways to modify.

I did solidcore for several months when I was recovering from foot surgery. I couldn't run or do other impact work, and I'd been curious about it. Every instructor asked at the start of class about restrictions, and I just pointed to my foot.

I'm in my late 40s and felt everyone in class was young enough to be my child, but once I got over that, I enjoyed the class. Great workout.
