Another pregnant teacher

Anonymous
3rd year teacher is pregnant and won’t be back after Spring Break. They will try to find a long term sub for her, but who knows if they will. She is only 12 weeks pregnant and doesn’t have any issues with the pregnancy. i just don’t understand why doesn’t she stay till the end since the baby won’t be due for another 6 months…

Lets say you manage your pregnancy and let her manage hers. How's that sound?

It’s her prerogative to leave. Just wish her the best.

Nobody would be asking this question if she were in another profession.

Guess she doesn’t want to and doesn’t have to. Not great for your kid, but these things happen. It will be ok.

She probably doesn’t want to risk having the crap beat out of her, or have added stress of non-helpful staff and admin, or perhaps she hates teaching and doing it whilst pregnant just won’t work.
Anonymous
Admin should offer 10k bonus to stay, but they won’t because they don’t actually care.

Maybe she doesn't want the stress while she's pregnant. Stress is bad for the baby.
Maybe she has a spouse with a job that pays a lot more than hers and she's planning on being a SAHM and just wants to use the leave she hasn't been able to use since she started before she quits.

You think a Principal has that authority?

I had severe preeclampsia and HELLP syndrome with my first pregnancy so I was super careful with the second one. I'm a teacher and I took off after the 5-6th month. My last day was the last day of school before winter break. My health and my baby's health is what is the more important thing.

Leaving after 12 weeks of pregnancy? Yeah someone would be questioning that.

Tell me you’re an idiot without telling me you’re an idiot.

Probably because she doesn’t want to be punched or kicked in the tummy or stabbed with scissors and risk her pregnancy. Frankly I can’t say I blame her.

VA is at will. The contracts don’t really do anything.
