Will Fenty win the DC mayoral primary against Gray?

Yay or nay.

Im not really looking for people's political beliefs but more just a yes or no answer. Thank you. I don't know how to create a poll this is the best I can do.

Nay. It'll be Gray. Or so I'd say.

I don't know. Usually I think Fenty will pull it out in the end (even though I would never vote for him) but Gray keeps getting more and more endorsements. When's the primary election again?

9/14, but early voting begins 8/30.

I don't know. I'm leaning towards Gray, but Fenty's got quite the warchest.

What do people think of the whole education forum blowoff bruhaha? To me shows Fenty's pechant for making mountains out of molehills through hubris (where was he that was more important than education?) and throwing staff under the bus. Ticket-gate, Dorothy Height and Maya Angelou snub, Dubai/Jamaica travel Clark Ray and DPR firings, etc. etc. Enough already. Amateur hour is over. Wouldn't it be nice for mayor and council to clash over serious things?

Can someone list what Gray's plans for education and the city are? Other than not being Fenty, what are Gray supporters voting for?

Personally, I'm not a big fan of Fenty, however, I do think that Michelle Rhee has done a good job and still has more work to do. I am voting for Fenty so that she will stay on as school chancellor. I heard her interview yesterday on NPR and it is pretty clear that she would not remain chancellor if Gray were elected.

Gray has the AFL/CIO vote... that is HUGE.

It seems to be her modus operandi -- blackmail. just like getting contributions that are contingent on her staying in office. I don't think Gray has said he'd get rid of her, but she probably has good reason to believe she would be subject to more accountability under Gray than under Fenty (nonexistent). No wonder she might want to leave.

I am thinking Fenty might pull it off when folks study the realities of Gray. This is a new thought as of this week! I was going to vote for Gray, but got to thinking that what we know might be better than what we do not know. I also think voting for Fenty because of Rhee is ill advised because she could well leave one year into his term.

Fenty clearly wants the race to be Gray vs. Rhee. Gray gets my vote.

Then you should educate yourself about Gray. Obviously, we won't know exactly how he'll perform in office until he is in office, but this mindset essentially means you will always vote incumbent, because that is what you know.

Untrue. It's fairly common for a non-incumbent to have a track record on which voters can see how they performed previously. Gray has been in public service for over 30 years. What has he personally accomplished over that period that would make me want to vote for him?

I'm not saying you have to vote for Gray. What I'm saying is that voting for Fenty because he's the guy you know isn't a particularly reasoned approach. If you are informed on Gray and do not want to vote for him, by all means. But if you take the "Guy I know over guy I don't know approach" you are just being lazy. Both guys are 'knowable' if you take the time.

As you point out, there is plenty of data to evaluate Gray on.
