stronger and faster with the last 10 lbs or weaker/slower being 10 lbs lighter?

Anonymous

Losing the last 10 lbs is really difficult. Eating less impacts my workouts and all around energy levels. Eating more (i.e. my maintenance), I feel energetic and strong. Anyone else in the same position?

I ate less for 3 weeks and the scale barely moved, only could tolerate a 20 min workout.

Is this really a question? READ your own sentences to yourself and ask how you would respond to someone you loved- daughter? sister? friend?

Energetic and strong OR weak and tired.

Cmon OP!

I am working to accept that I need the "extra" five pounds to feel strong. My body weight is at the low end of normal but I outweigh my (very weight conscious) mom and my sister, so I have to keep reminding myself that this is the weight where my body belongs.

I didn’t think of it that way. Thanks.

Are you still very young, OP? You need to let this go.

I let my mom get to me when I was a teen and ended up with an eating disorder. (I started at a perfectly normal weight (120 at 5'4) that my mother considered appropriate only for a pregnant woman at my height. (She's the same height as me and probably weighed 100-105 as a teen and in her 20s).

Fast forward 30 years and this woman is still giving me updates on her weight and asking me what I weigh. I currently weigh about 115 and she needs to let me know that she feels so heavy if she goes above 114 and prefers to be under 110. OK? Who cares? You need to stop caring. You do not share a body. Take care of yourself.

I am a powerlifter and 10lbs difference in weight makes zero difference to my strength. And I am talking 150lbs vs. 140lbs on a female. If you feel like you do not have much energy in the deficit, I would look at the structure of your diet. Try to keep your deficit not overly restrictive and consider eating more calories on the day you work out and make sure to time the bulk of your calories around your workouts. Also pay attention to the quality of your foods. Eating whole foods with plenty of protein and fiber will help with satiety and overall energy level. An energy deficit does not have to completely miserable.

OP, this sounds less about weight and more about psychological abuse. I looked up to my sister but her criticism caused me to always doubt myself. Please don’t let these women try to control you. Maybe they really are “weight conscious” but it doesn’t sounds good for your mental health.

But what are you eating though? If you're not getting enough protein and carbs, that's why you might not feel as energetic. Your body needs carbs for fuel so you might need more.

Losing weight is all diet so you might not need to work out as much. Or might be time to cut down on the cardio (which increases appetite) and switch to strength training and lifting weights. That in combo with the right diet and the weight will come off.
