Yes. That's exactly why the schools need to stay open. Thank you for stating it so clearly. Virtual school threatens the health and safety of the community.

Sorry but the PP was right and you are nuts. Staying open at all costs to make a few delinquent parents happy is just foolishness.

The fact that you don't recognize that you're the one that's part of the "few" at this point is amazing.

Albeit not local, Duke Hospital reported yesterday that 86% hospitalized with COVID are unvaccinated, 96% of COVID patients in ICU are unvaccinated, and 100% of patients on assisted breathing are unvaccinated.

For the love of God, get vaxxed/boosted!

Hospitalizations aren't even close to levels earlier this year

If you are concerned about rising COVID cases and wish for your kids to go remote next week (not forever) write to the BOE.

Wow. Yes. The vaccines make a difference in outcome. That is very clear.

No. Next week will turn into March. No.

As covid cases rise in the region, Maryland hospitals reaching near capacity

Shit. You are not lying. I went to my gyno doc and she said they are having to send labor and delivery cases somewhere else as hospitals are full of covid cases. I did not believe her and went by Frederick Memorial on the way home. I was astonished. The lots were full and cars were wrapped around the building and down streets like snakes. I guess it is for testing. WTH! i believe we can do better. It is feeling like 2020 up in here. A lot of people who are fully vaccinated are getting covid and getting pretty sick to where they feel that they cannot breathe on their own and go to the ER or urgent care.

The article says the vast majority of people in the hospital are either unvaccinated or vaccinated but with underlying conditions. The hospitals are not filling up with fully vaxxed generally healthy people.

Kind of hilarious how people like you keep threatening to send your kid private and marveled at how well private schools handled the pandemic and they are ones closing right now. Crickets.

They are closing due to large clusters of cases and they say they will reopening 1/3 and guess what they will. Totally different than MCPs. If MCPS closed they will not reopening until March or later. Hard no. Nobody trusts MCPS to close for a week. Nobody. Also, they can’t with the state regs. Thank god. And dr. Gayles is gone so they won’t try to pull something.

They are hardly “closing”. Leaving for Winter break 3-7 days early. Keep in mind these schools were in person wayyyyyyy before MCPS. So, I’m not sure what your point is.

That sure sounds like closing to me.

So when MCPS gets rid of half days to no instruction I guess that’s closing too. I see you had no retort to the fact private schools were open from a year to 6 months prior to MCPS.

So do you just not care about vaccinated people who have the unfortunate luck of having underlying conditions? These are human beings!

Start winter break now for everyone’s sake.

MCPS only listens to the rapid reopeners. If parents want schools to go virtual or have plans for outbreaks, they need to start signing up for public comments because right now the only voices are the ones screaming about 1/2 days, the abuse of mask wearing and who think COVID is no longer a problem.
