MCPS covid cases

Anonymous
My DS (junior in high school) said kids dropping like flies with Covid (though illness seems to be mild). My freshman DD is not noticing as many kids out thus far. DS learned that several kids who are in his hallway at lunch announced their positive status on Instagram last night. Two of his friends are staying home due to fear of catching it but DS is worried about falling behind in classes if he does the same.

MCPS should have a virtual option until holiday break.

Yep.

We could have had in person school without indoor sports, without pep rallies, with precautions taken, but too many people had to have their gyms, their restaurants, their trips to Florida....

The surges are in the northeast.

Yes. That's exactly why the schools need to stay open. Thank you for stating it so clearly. Virtual school threatens the health and safety of the community.

And yet it doesn’t, unless you’re a fear Monterey in the insane parent group who seem like they want a mental health crisis in order to fuel their narrative. They also want kids to fail and do poorly bc it fits what they spewed the entire time. Margery smelkinson relishes in that shit. Instead of wanting kids to have been okay, they wanted kids to fail on every level. It’s pathetic and most of us see right through it.

Kind of hilarious how people like you keep threatening to send your kid private and marveled at how well private schools handled the pandemic and they are ones closing right now. Crickets.

People like who? I am the PP you're responding to. I have never threatened to send my child to private school. I have never even considered sending my child to private school. I have also never marveled at how well the private schools handled the pandemic, especially given that some of them handled the pandemic well, some of them didn't, and none of them are the public school system anyway.

They are hardly “closing”. Leaving for Winter break 3-7 days early. Keep in mind these schools were in person wayyyyyyy before MCPS. So, I’m not sure what your point is.

That sure sounds like closing to me.

Sorry but the PP was right and you are nuts. Staying open at all costs to make a few delinquent parents happy is just foolishness.

As long as we have all those things you mention, I will lose my sh-t if school goes virtual.

You sound really anxious- did you not apply for the VA in time and now want in person to be cancelled for everyone due to your mistake? That’s pretty selfish.
