Madlax 2025 is awful this spring. Getting killed in HOCO.

Is that a new club? Never heard of it

Hardlax is a newer program. PVI coach and founder. I've heard good things, but they are new and their teams reflect that.

I'd be surprised if families leave consistency of VLC for a start up going into HS?

Yes what's happening with the vaunted #1 2025 team in the country? Most of their losses aren't even close, so they can't use that cope the same way the VLC 2025 dad here does.

Be quite painful to pay Cabell Maddux premium fees in order to be 3-4 in HoCo. Happily, our well informed readers have informed us that HoCo outcomes don't matter so long as the team is getting better or something (yeah, another cope). No doubt Cabell has an easy tournament schedule set up for them this summer in order to restore everyone's self-esteem.

I never once meant they are the best. However, they are better than a lot of lacrosse teams. Keep it in perspective.

Going to be a much better summer tourney season than last and a bunch of great players are supposedly coming to try out for next years team. There are some really talented players beginning to emerge at other clubs looking for more playing time or to make a club like VLC.

also if my kid went to one of those great D3 schools. I'd be happy as well. It's not only about Division 1, very few get that call.

I’ve heard a lot of the strong 2025 boys are headed elsewhere. Fogo is headed to Baltimore to attend Calvert Hall, I imagine FCA would want to scoop him up. Time will tell.

Which Nova teams are playing well in HOCO? If they aren’t playing on VLC 2025, who are they playing for?

MadLax Caps 2026, 2027, and 2028 are doing well, as is VLC 2027. Who knows why the 2025 teams aren't doing as well.

Top Caliber’s 2025 and 2026 teams are also doing well in the AAA division - the 2025 team beat VLC. The 2026 team is coached by the Madison HS head coach and 2025 team coached by Robinson HS coach. Two very capable coaches that are building a solid alternative to VLC for those ages.

Former TC Parent here. They are good guys and solid coaches, but nowhere near as connected to colleges as the VLC program. Just look at the tourneys they play in and their commits. Sadly, 90% of the kids they've listed on their website are actually lifelong VLC guys, but young Johnny's parents may not know that.

Does Top Caliber list its college commits anywhere?

Fair criticism of TopCal history - they don’t have the college recruiting record of VLC, but TopCal has only been around a few years - 2018 was the first graduating class that started with TC. A few D1 recruits the last few years, but mostly commits to top D2 and D3 programs right now with greater emphasis on college recruiting. No reason that Top Caliber recruiting outcomes won’t match improved level of play we’re seeing with 2025 and 2026 teams. TopCal is a growth stock. And VLC? If you aren’t getting better.....
