Parents who defend this club are aware. They are willing to accept their coaches' tantrums because they think it will make their DD stronger. It doesn't. College coaches are put on administrative leave immediately or fired for less. Only at BSC is this acceptable. These coaches have found a place that will tolerate their behavior and BSC will be their forever home. |
I can certainly think of a BSC coach that fits this description and it gets awkward seeing him berate young girls. None of the parents seem to care though so I guess that style is acceptable depending on who you are. |
I watched a game in the spring where the BSC coach was yelling at 12 and 13 yr old girls. Personal attacks, downright abusive, over the line. It was a close game and they lost. I don't know how any of the parents allow their daughters to be talked to like that. It was completely inappropriate and if my daughter was on that team we would be gone. |
Philip is a businessman more than a coach. He leeches on players who have made something of themselves and claims it is his doing. Interviewing kids as if he had something to do with their success when in years prior he ignored them and their abilities completely. He does not create players he just rides their success stories. Next Star attracts a lot of talent and so it’s a great drop in model because you’re plying against good talent but they DO NOT add any coaching value and Philip is absolutely not the reason for these player’s growth and success |

Just chiming in to say I recently talked with a large group of BSC partners and they recognize the issue, see it, know some parents leave because of it… but generally the BSC parents put up with it because they think it works or it is what you need to put up with to get into ENCL in this area.
It’s not for me. |
Bio banding is for players that haven’t physically developed, it is to give some of the smaller/lighter players a chance |
This isn't wrong. The BSC girls teams are excellent. The coaches are great soccer coaches. Some of them are good humans. Some need to study child psychology. Each parent and family need to decide what is best for them. One made my kid go from first team to quitting all together. There's an in between and I regret that as a parent I didn't intercede earlier before the coach crushed her light. |
The vail comes off the deity… |
| LOL! |
| The fish rots from the head down at BSC. |
| Aren’t most clubs have head coach running their side business the same? |
Respectfully disagree about PG. He was great for my son, sorry you didn't have him or have the same experience. And he absolutely played a key role in Wayne and Kristian and AH and many others' development. I suppose he isn't for everyone, and if you are near the bottom of the team you will need to do a lot of extra work for him to have you crack the middle or the top. But for the right kids, he is excellent, and also excellent for anyone training with NextStar. |

The girls side has very tough and arguably abusive coaches. To each their own. Some people thrive, some suffer psychological damage and hate the sport.
I agree with everything previously said about doing what is best for your daughter. Calculations are different. |
In this day and age and with the recent “Me Too” movement, I’m utterly surprised that abusive treatment of girls is tolerated. This is what happens when there’s only 1 ECNL club in MoCo. |
| And the craziest thing about SC is that he married one of his former players. |
