Political Discussion
We're not talking about a "3rd party". Our two party system is going no where anytime soon. We're talking about replacing or forcing massive reform on the two dysfunctional and corrupt major parties that no longer serve to the best interests of the American people. |
Mkay. Cope harder. If they think that Trump=republicans which all the recent elections show they do then for now all the dems have to do is keep being hated slightly less to win elections. You guys are cooked for the next four years. Miami has the first dem mayor in decades, NJ and VA governors races were a bust. |
| I’m hopeful more Republicans are becoming “America First” and break with this administration’s policies in the upcoming year. Look at Marjorie Taylor Greene and the Indiana Republicans actions as of late. Some are doing the right thing to protect our Democracy! |
You know, I can see why Democrats would be excited by winning the bright red states of New Jersey and Virginia. It's a real harbinger of the future that such stalwart Republican strongholds went Democrat. |
We don’t need to win bright red states. We need to win swing states and districts, which we are doing. |
The big difference is the Hispanic vote is going south on republicans. The same thing happened in California when the Republicans attacked Hispanics. In the 1990’s the Republican Party supported anti-immigrant policies, particularly Proposition 187. After that California became a blue state. Think the same thing is happening now. Florida and Texas Hispanics are pretty anger right now. |
Great. We’ll get excited about losing Florida next time too. |
Exactly. I swear, people hear one word and they go off into some fantasy land instead of trying comprehending hat is being said. It is all sound bites so that they use to find a response on some menu. If someone says xyz, interrupt and give this answer. People are stupider here than I gave them credit for. |
DP. You are dim. The person you are responding to isn’t a trump supporter. If Dems actually listened to what that poster is saying, we wouldn’t have Trump. |
People said a black man couldn’t be president. They said someone with a no -English sounding name couldn’t win. Hmmm. Good thing there are people who don’t listen to that kind of malarkey and dream bigger. |
Exactly. All these models Republicans are using for redistricting are predicated on Latinos going red - and that's 20 percent of the population, roughly 70 million people. But recent off-year elections are proving that was a very faulty assumption. Voting patterns in 2024 were a blip - mostly a reaction to a lot of the excesses of progressives. Today is a different reality. When even Cuban-Americans in Miami are voting for a Democrat as mayor, any sane Republican politician will recognize they've lost the plot with their demonization of Latinos and the violence and lawlessness of ICE attacking anyone that looks Latino. California was the state of Ronald Reagan. Orange County was blood red. And so were the foothill counties and many other areas of California. And then state Republicans pursued proposition 187. Boom. California is now as blue as the sky. Those Republican legislators in Indiana didn't reject this redistricting plan out of the kindness of their heart. Unlike Republicans in DC, Indiana Republicans still have more than one brain cell. To get those two blue seats means making every other Republican seat weaker. And everyone in politics can see a wave election coming. Those Indiana Republicans know redistricting puts more seats in play in a wave election. And they'd rather avoid that. But this situation is very reflective of the delusions and ideological rigidity of the Trump administration and Speaker Mike Johnson. They don't live in the real world. And every Republican politician with some ambition is qoing to have to make some choices. |
PP knows this. Pretend pretending that everyone who makes valid points about Democrats is MAGA is the latest ploy. Before that, you were on Putin's payroll and helping spread Russia disinformation. Before that, you were "alt-right." Before that, you were a white supremacist having a meltdown because a Black man was president. Everyone who will not obey Democrats' donor-dictated agenda is a racist. If they're a person of color, then they're a homophobe. If they are a gay person of color, then they're an Uncle Tom. If they're gay person of color with strong connections to their community, then they're not very smart and are a sad, confused example of how the American education system fails people of color and why Democrats must be in charge to fix it. There's always some dishonest, mean-spirited, identity-based calumny. I moved in those circles for years and I know a talking point from the higher ups when I come across it. This board has been so compromised by Democratic operatives that half of the traffic to the politics forum probably consists of people paid to keep DC-area and DC-adjacent women in line. |
You sound unhinged |
Yes. We know. I'm an unhinged, bigoted deplorable full of [insert your favorite]-phobia and [insert your favorite]-ism. Yawn. |
They aren’t wrong though. |
