So according to KJP, we should raise the debt ceiling and give Biden whatever he wants because otherwise some adults might have to pay back their student loans. Ridiculous. This is not something most people support. So tone deaf. So out of touch. |
If the Republicans didn’t have the culture war, they’d be toast. Their entire economic agenda is about helping billionaires become wealthier. |
Bless your little heart, sweetheart... at the $350 billion in revenue level Treasury takes in monthly, all confiscatory spending (80% of current levels) are covered. Nice try though |
Interesting the GOP proposal isn't cutting anything from the budget, rather capping inflation at 1% per year... |
Here’s an example of a world run by Republicans. People with pre-existing health conditions cannot get health insurance. Sole proprietors pay enormous sums to provide only catastrophic health insurance for their families. The elderly, 50% of whom are indignant, live on the streets or with their family, but cannot afford healthcare. Life expectancy for the average person is 70. |
It is, actually. |
....And, we all plan to push granny off a cliff. ![]() Your apocalyptic example is old, tired, and totally false. |
DP. Only in your bubble. |
So when inflation is closer to 3 or 4 percent for a few years in a row what happens? Social security has built in COLAs so it will continue to eat more of the pie. Republicans will never let military increases fall below inflation. Medicare rates will have to rise with inflation. If democrats agree to this, they'll wake up and realize they've cut the programs that they like by the 20%+ that republicans originally wanted |
What do you think happens without social security? How many years did republicans try to get pre-existing conditions coverage revoked? Why do republicans not like being reminded of their own platform? |
Why do you think your check won't be in the 20% that isn't covered? |
The debt ceiling isn't about "whatever he wants" - that is the budget. The debt ceiling is about paying for the Trump tax cuts and other debt inducing expenditures. |
I just posted the Mammouth poll. 75% of Americans disagree with the GOP tactics. |
Catastrophic health insurance is not enormous cost. What is enormous cost is the self employed having to buy insurance now. Went from hundreds of dollars a month to thousands of dollars a month. |
Something like that. And cut all the subsidies and tax credits for renewable energy, and any carbon taxes that were passed. Would like to keep gas stoves and the current dishwashers. It also depends on what you mean by Republicans. Eventually McConnell will cut a deal because he doesn't want to cut spending much, his donors need to get their money's worth. |
